Funding announced for Sligo’s heritage buildings

Minister of State for Heritage and Electoral Reform, Malcolm Noonan, TD, has announced that 477 heritage projects across every county in the country will benefit from a total of €3m under this year’s Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS). Of this fund €72,000 has been allocated to 12 projects in Sligo, ranging from historic shopfronts to larger country houses.

Dara Mulvey accompanied by, keen fishermen Tom Clarke and Anthony Mahon from the nearby Cranmore area, together with Frank Quinn and Jim Sheridan from the Cranmore Regeneration Team cast a few lines from two newly installed Angling Stands on the Garavogue River.

N4-N15 Urban Improvement Scheme will bring major benefits

The N4-N15 Sligo Urban Improvement Scheme north of Sligo town will increase capacity and reduce congestion along this section of the National Primary Road. Earlier this week the N15 southbound diversion on approach to Sligo town was lifted, the restriction on traffic travelling from the Rosses Point Road turning right into Sligo was also removed.

A day in the life of the Cranmore Regeneration Refurbishment Project

Sligo County Council and The Cranmore Regeneration Project team have been following three residents from Cranmore in the Sligo East City Area, as they prepare to embark on the long anticipated environmental and building upgrades to their homes. Ann Forde, Marion Byrne and Evelyn Tiernan have lived in the area for more than 46 years and were moved to temporary accommodation during the works to their homes. Hear how they coped with being out of their homes and how they feel moving back to their newly refurbished homes, along with plans for further refurbishments across the Cranmore Estate and the development of new Enterprise and Community Centre, in the heart of the community.

Following the introduction of level 5 Covid restrictions by the Government from midnight Wednesday, Sligo County Council has confirmed that its offices will remain open to the public with restricted access. Local Authorities will be providing their services in a different way, and in line with current public health guidance, visits to Council offices will be by prior appointment only.
