Draft Noise Action Plan for Sligo County and City

The Plan is mainly concerned with noise in the vicinity of major roads where levels of traffic exceed three million vehicle passages per year.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT SLIGO COUNTY COUNCIL PROPOSE TO MAKE A NOISE ACTION PLAN AS REQUIRED UNDER THE ENVIRONMENTAL NO. 40 OF 2006 WHICH GIVE EFFECT TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL NOISE DIRECTIVE 2002/49/EC

The Plan is mainly concerned with noise in the vicinity of major roads where levels of traffic exceed three million vehicle passages per year.  The sections of Roads that exceed these limits within Sligo County are as follows:

  • N4 from its junction with N15/N16 in Sligo City to the County Boundary with Roscommon,
  • N17 from its junction with the N4 in County Sligo to the County Boundary with Mayo,
  • N15 from its junction with the N4/N16 in Sligo City to the County Boundary with Leitrim,
  • N59 from Ballisodare Village to the townland of Beltra,
  • R287 from its junction with Carrowroe Roundabout to the Borough Boundary and along Pearse Road from the Borough Boundary to its junction with Mail Coach Road,
  • R870 from its junction with Mail Coach Road to its junction with Abbey Street/ Castle Street,
  • R286 from its junction with Stephen Street/The Mall to its junction with Abbey Street/Castle Street.

A copy of the Draft Noise Action Plan may be inspected at the offices outlined below from 9:00am to 5:00pm from Thursday, 31st May 2018 to Thursday, 19th July 2018.
