Rainbow Flag raised at County Hall

Councillor Paul Taylor performed his first official engagement as Cathaoirleach today by welcoming representatives of Sligo Leitrim Branch of SMILY LGBT to County Hall to raise their Rainbow Flag.

The flag is a symbol of inclusion and acceptance and will be flown during Pride Week (21st to 27th June).  The Pride Flag is also being flown at Sligo County Council’s offices at City Hall, Quay Street.

Joining the Cathaoirleach at the flag raising ceremony were Councillor Sinead Maguire, Councillor Gino O’Boyle, Catherine McCann, LGBTI+ Youth Support Worker, Youth Work Ireland - North Connaught, and young people from the Smily LGBTI+ Youth Project.

The Cathaoirleach said he welcomed the opportunity to facilitate the flying of the rainbow flag for Pride month to show the Council’s solidarity for LGBTI+ people in Sligo #loveislove #pridemonth
