SLIGO URBAN AREA:
Business Broadband Connection by E-Net
Roadworks will take place on the Back Avenue at Doorly Park in the vicinity of the playground entrance on Thursday 30th March. A stop-go operation will be in place. Delays can be expected.

Pedestrian Diversions
- All pedestrian crossings are now open and functional as controlled crossings.
- TTM barriers will be erected in various locations around site to carry out remedial works according to SCC defect list provided.

Fish Quay Street, Sligo – to be closed to allow for deep cleaning and sealing of 1nr ramp (TMP 019)

Scotsman’s Walk – R291 Rosses Point Road - Junction Enhancement Works
Construction works at the junction of the R291 Rosses Point Road and Scotman’s Walk will be ongoing. The works will be ongoing for approximately two more weeks, weather permitting. The works involve footpath/verge enhancement and realignment of the junction in order to improve visibility for motorists exiting Scotsman’s Walk on to the R291. Traffic Management measures in the form of temporary traffic lights are in situ throughout the works. Delays for motorists can be expected. Sligo County Council apologises for any inconveniences caused.
Stephen Street Car Park
Works on Queen Maeve Square are ongoing, the car park will remain closed. Pedestrian access and deliveries will be accommodated throughout the works.
R292 Strandhill Road/Roger Eames Road Junction:
Roadside boundaries are being setback at the junction of the Strandhill Road and Roger Eames Road to facilitate improved junction intervisibility. Resulting delays or hinderance will be minimal for the coming week.
Manhole Cover Replacement on Adelaide street Sligo
Works will are required to replace existing iron work on Adelaide street Sligo. Works are limited to the existing footpath at Bus Garage. Works are programmed for Tuesday 21th March Traffic management shall be in place which will include closing of the existing footpath and the closing northbound lane of Adelaide Street between Ted Nealon Road and Lord Edward Street junctions. Diversion route shall be signed. Minor delays are expected. Sligo County Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.
Valve Replacement Cairns Road:
Water Services will carry out valve replacement works on Thursday 28th February on Cairns Road between Pearse Road and Markievicz Heights. Traffic control will be in operation, expect minor delays with temporary traffic lights in operation.
Wastewater Network Survey
Coffey Group will carry out a sewer CCTV survey as part of Wastewater Network Survey and Rehab, which will involve localised traffic management in the following locations:
R292, Finisklin Road, Rathedmond Estate, Deep Water Quay, Pirn Mill Road, R287, N4, Custom House Quay, Fatima Ave, Castle Street, Charles Street ,Water lane, Clereagh Road, Rock Wood, Lower New Street, Dominic Street, Temple Street, Old Market Street, Kempten Promenade, Bridge Street, St Annes Terrace, St Asicus terrace, Crozon Promenade, Devins Drive
Cranmore:
Installation of a footpath and car parking bays, at John Fallon Drive and Joe McDonnell Drive, Cranmore. A dedicated traffic management plan will be in place for each location. Minor traffic delays are expected. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution.
Cranmore demolition works:
Demolition works and construction activity associated with the development of 4 new dwellings at Joe McDonnell Drive, Cranmore and Chapel Hill. A dedicated traffic management plan will be in place for each location. Traffic delays are expected. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution or to avoid Chapel Hill if possible.
SLIGO – DRUMCLIFFE AREA:
N16 Lugatober (Drumkilsellagh to Lugnagall) Road Project
The main construction works for the N16 Lugatober Project have now commenced
The works will be ongoing for approximately 20 months. Works will involve circa 2.54km realignment of the existing N16 Primary route between the townlands of Drumkilsellagh and Lugnagall.
Construction activities are expected to intensify over the coming weeks with Temporary Traffic Management arrangements being communicated accordingly.
Sligo County Council would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
N15 CREEVYKEEL TO BUNDUFF BRIDGE – PAVEMENT SCHEME 2022
Major Road Resurfacing Works will continue on The N15 (Sligo to Bundoran Road) Between the townlands of Creevykeel and Bunduff, just South of Bunduff Bridge on The Sligo/Leitrim Border For 2km.
The duration of the works will take approximately 10 Weeks. Traffic Management will be in place with a 50km Speed Limit.
Sligo County Council apologises for any inconvenience arising from these works.
N15 Pothole Repair
Routine maintenance will continue the National Primary N15 in the coming week between the townlands of Cashelgarran and Shannon Eighter. A Stop and Go Operation will be in effect.
Drumcliffe:
Ward and Burke Construction are working on behalf of Irish Water to upgrade wastewater facilities for Glebe Builders at the new HSE Health Centre in Drumcliffe.
Area Works
Routine maintenance will continue through the area to include Pothole repair and drainage works on local and regional roads.
Restoration Improvement and Drainage Works
Silverhill L-7302-18
Road Restoration/ Drainage Works will be carried out on the L-7302-18 – Silver hill. Traffic management and a Road Closure will be in place with signed Diversion in place. Local Access will be provided. A 50km.hr speed limit will be in operation within the site.
Ballinvoher L-7316-0
Road Restoration/ Drainage Works will be carried out on the L-7316-0– Ballinvoher on Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th March 2028 . Traffic management and a Road Closure will be in place from Berties Pitch and Put to Kintogher Road junction with signed Diversion in place. Local Access will be provided.
Derry L-7205-0
Road Restoration/ Drainage Works will be carried out on the L-7316-0– Derry. Traffic management and a Road Closure will be in place with signed Diversion in place. Local Access will be provided. A 50km.hr speed limit will be in operation within the site.
Lane Closure/ Stop and GO/ All Stop Operations.
R278 – Colgagh – Lane closure with All Stop will be in place for short periods for Road Works on the Wednesday 29th March 2023
L3305 Drumcliffe West – Lane closure with All Stop will be in place for short periods for Road Works on the Wednesday 29th March 2023.
R291 –Ballincar – Cycle Lane and Footway closure with will be in place for short periods for Road Works on the Wednesday 29th March 2023

Rosses Point Sewerage Scheme:
Works along R291 Sligo to Rosses Point Road:
Pipelaying operations will continue during the week along the north side of the R291 in the Ballincar area east the Raddison Hotel. A Traffic management plan will be in place but motorists can expect minor delays with temporary traffic lights in operation. All pipelaying works in this area are expected to be complete by the end of April ‘23.
Temporary Road Closures in Rosses Point Village:
Old Rosses Point Road (L-3309-0)
- A temporary road closure remains in place along an approx.100 metres stretch of the Old Rosses Point Road (L-3309-0) extending from its junction with local road L-3311-1 (in the vicinity of the Wastewater Pumping Station) eastwards to the R291 Junction. The temporary closure will continue until 26th May’23. Access to residents is being maintained by opening of the heretofore closed access onto the R291 at the east end. Signage is in place for the traffic rerouting, but minor disruption can be expected. On re-opening of the section of the Old Rosses Point Road (L-3309-0) from the junction with local road L-3311-1, the access closure on the L-3309-0 at its east end junction with the R291 will be reinstated as per traffic flow arrangements prior to the Works.
An approx. 200m stretch of the Old Rosses Point Road, (L-3309-0) extending from the Little Cottage Café area eastwards to its junction with the R291 (in vicinity of the Wastewater Pumping Station) plus an approx. 200m stretch of the L-3311-0 Oyster Bay Road (downcoming to where it links onto the R291) will both be temporarily closed to public traffic until 14th April ’23. These temporary road closures are necessary to facilitate pipelaying in the vicinity of the Wastewater Pumping Station. The alternative route for traffic will be via the L-3311-0, L-7313-0 and R291-60. Diversion routes will be sign posted
Colmcille Drive: - Works are programmed to continue during the week along Colmcille Drive with traffic restricted to one lane and a ‘Give & Take’ system in place for residents on this Cul De Sac.
All pipelaying works within Rosses Point village are expected to be complete by mid-April ‘23.
Traffic Management Plans will be in operation for all temporary road closures necessary to facilitate pipelaying works on the project with diversion routes sign posted. But disruption can be expected.

ENNISCRONE AREA:
Work will continue in Enniscrone at the junction of Main Street and Cliff Road for repaving works on 20th March. Temporary traffic lights will be in operation when required.
Enniscrone Town:
For week commencing Monday 27th March, there is some ongoing work planned regarding water mains installation and associated work on Main Street. Traffic lights may be in operation if required.
Kilglass:
New watermains installations, service connections, and associated work including decommissioning of old watermains, is ongoing.
Work is predominantly in 3 locations:
- Along the public road between Bourke’s bridge at Bourkestown, and the Drinaghan crossroads
- Along the public road between the Drinaghan crossroads and the R297 road
- Along the R298 public road for a length of 800 m approximately, at Lackancahill townland
For week commencing Monday 27h March, no work is planned to be carried out.
Sightline improvements will be carried out in Carraun/Newtown on the R297/L6611-0 (109). Traffic Lights will be in place, Minor Delays expected.
Pothole repair works will continue in the Enniscrone area. Traffic control will be in operation, minor delays are expected.
Drainage works will continue in the Enniscrone area. Traffic control will be in operation, minor delays are expected.
Sightline improvements will be carried out in Dooneen/Rinroe on the L2605-0 (110). Traffic Lights will be in place, Minor Delays expected.
Footpath improvements will continue on the Cliff Rd, Enniscrone. A Temporary Road closure will be in place. Diversion via R297 Main Street and Cliff Rd.
BALLYMOTE AREA
A new rising main installation between Rathnakelliga pumping station and Carrigans reservoir, and associated work, will be commencing this week. For week commencing 27 March, Traffic lights will be in operation when required on the L1502 road, in the vicinity of Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál school.
SLIGO STRANDHILL AREA:
Strandhill Village:
Watermain upgrade works for Irish Water in and around Strandhill Village is ongoing. This project involves the decommissioning of over 3 km of old cast iron water mains, and their replacement with new High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes, the transfer of connections from old watermains to new watermains, and associated work. The works are currently ongoing, and most of the work is now completed.
For week commencing Monday 27th March, work will be carried out at isolated locations in Strandhill village. Traffic lights will be in place when required.
Road Restoration Killery:
Road Restoration will be carried out on the L7604-13 Killery, traffic management will be in place, A 50km.hr speed limit will be in operation within the site.
A temporary road closure will be in place, Local Access will be provided.
Footpath repair works will continue in Cloondara, Ballisodare.
