Road and Traffic Report
SLIGO URBAN AREA:
N4N15 Sligo Urban Improvement Scheme:
Traffic Signal Drawpit repair works will be carried out on the L-90170 Finisklin Road cycleway and footway. These repair works will require temporary traffic management measures to be implemented.
The works are scheduled to take place over a period of two days.
Sligo County Council would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Road Resurfacing Works – Ironworks and Road Markings:
The 2023 road resurfacing programme will continue in the Sligo Urban Area through w/c 18th September. Further to recent resurfacing works at the locations listed below, the raising of ironworks and road markings will be carried out through the week by Lagan. Localised traffic management measures will be in place. Sligo County Council regrets any inconvenience caused.

Footpath Enhancement Works:
Martin Savage Terrace:
Traffic Management will be in operation in Martin Savage Terrace through w/c 18th September to carry out footpath enhancement works. Sligo County Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.
Fatima Avenue:
Traffic Management will be in operation in Fatima Avenue through w/c 18th September to carry out footpath enhancement works. Sligo County Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.
Routine Maintenance Works – Gully Cleaning
Church Hill
Stop-go traffic management will be in operation on Church Hill on Tuesday 19th September from 10am to 4pm in order to carry out gully cleaning works.
Drainage Investigation Works
Larkhill Road / Oakfield Road
Stop-go traffic management will be in operation intermittently on Oakfield Road and Larkhill Road from Monday 18th September through to Friday 22nd September from 8am to 5pm each day for drainage investigation works .
Coffey Group will carry out critical sewer cctv surveys in the following locations:
- R291, Rathedmond Estate, John Street, Deep Water Quay, R292, R287, N4, Custom House Quay, Charles Street, St. Josephs Terrace, Water Lane, Temple Street, Gallows Hill, Castle Street, St. Brigids Place, Rock Wood Promenade, Kempten Promenade, St. Annes Terrace, Crozon Promenade, Lower New Street.
Cranmore demolition works:
Demolition works and construction activity associated with the development of 4 new dwellings at Joe McDonnell Drive, Cranmore and Chapel Hill. A dedicated traffic management plan will be in place for each location. Traffic delays are expected. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution or to avoid Chapel Hill if possible.
SLIGO – DRUMCLIFFE AREA:
N16 Lugatober (Drumkilsellagh to Lugnagall) Road Project:
The main construction works for the N16 Lugatober Road Project are ongoing.
Traffic management is in place with a 60km/h temporary speed limit.
A 500m temporary diversion route for the existing N16 will be in place at Drumkilsellagh for several months. This will be single alternative traffic under 3 way lights taking into account the Drum Road (L3406) Junction.
Commencing Monday 11th September, Temporary traffic lights will be set up on the N16 (Manorhamilton side of the Glencar Rd.) This will reduce traffic to single alternative flow for approx. 300m.
A temporary diversion route with Stop/Go system is now in place at the Lugatober Road (L7413).
Delays are expected. Sligo County Council would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
N15 at Cashelgarran:
Road Stub Installation Works N15 Cashelgarran. N15 outside Henrys Bar & Restaurant
Road Stub Installation will take place on the N15 at Cashelgarran Td, next week. The duration of the work will take approximately ½ day.
Traffic management will be in place and very minor delays are expected.

Drumcliffe:
Ward and Burke Construction are working on behalf of Irish Water to upgrade wastewater facilities for Glebe Builders at the new HSE Health Centre in Drumcliffe.
Road Pavement Repair Works N15 Cashelgarran.
Pavement Repair works will take place on the N15 at Cashelgarran Td. The duration of the work will take approximately 1 week. Traffic management will be in place and delays are expected.

Restoration Improvement and Drainage Works:
R291 Ballyweelin
Road Restoration/ Drainage Works will be carried out on the R291 Ballyweelin to Rosses point Road – Derry. A hard shoulder cycle lane Closure will be in place.
L-7206/L-7213-0 Dargan/Ballyscannell
Road Restoration/ Drainage Works will be carried out on the L-7213-0 Dargan/Ballyscannell. Traffic management and a Road Closure will be in place with signed Diversion in place. Local Access will be provided.
Pothole Repair
Routine maintenance will continue on Regional and Local Roads throughout the County in the coming week weather permitting. A Stop and Go Operation will be in effect.
Rosses Point Sewerage Scheme:
Works along R291 Sligo to Rosses Point Road:
Road Lining works by Lagans (on behalf of Coffey Construction Ltd) are expected to be ongoing during the week along the R291 between Scotsmans Walk & the east end of Rosses Point Village. A Traffic management plan will be in place but motorists can expect minor delays.
Temporary Road Closures in Rosses Point Village:
Old Rosses Point Road (L-3309-0):
(1) A temporary road closure remains in place along an approx.100 metres stretch of the Old Rosses Point Road (L-3309-0) extending from its junction with local road L-3311-1 (in the vicinity of the Wastewater Pumping Station) eastwards to the R291 Junction. The temporary closure will continue until the end of September ’23. Access to residents is being maintained by opening of the heretofore closed access onto the R291 at the east end. Signage is in place for the traffic rerouting, but minor disruption can be expected. On re-opening of the section of the Old Rosses Point Road (L-3309-0) from the junction with local road L-3311-1, the access closure on the L-3309-0 at its east end junction with the R291 will be reinstated as per traffic flow arrangements prior to the Works.
(2) An approx. 200m stretch of the Old Rosses Point Road, (L-3309-0) extending from the Little Cottage Café area eastwards to its junction with the R291 (in vicinity of the new Wastewater Pumping Station) plus an approx. 200m stretch of the L-3311-0 Oyster Bay Road (downcoming to where it links onto the R291) will both be temporarily closed to public traffic on Mon 18th & Tue 19th September ‘23. These temporary road closures are necessary to facilitate works in the vicinity of the new Wastewater Pumping Station. The alternative route for traffic will be via the L-3311-0, L-7313-0 and R291-60. Diversion routes will be sign posted.
Irish Water apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Rosses Point: Watermains Installation:
Watermains improvement works will be ongoing on the Greenlands Estate. There may be some minimal disruptions to traffic at the location.
ENNISCRONE AREA:
Road Restoration will be carried out on the L2502-0 (94) & L6507-0 (99) Killglass/Drinighan crossroads.. A temporary road closure will be in place. Diversions via L6507-0 (99) & R297, and L6507-0 (99), N59 & L2501-0 (90)
Road restoration will be carried out on the R297 Carrowcardin. Traffic management will be in place, Minor delays expected.
Site investigation will be carried out on the R297 at Quigaboy/Quigabar. A Stop/Go system will be in operation, minor delays expected.
N59 Owenbeg (Phase 3) Pavement Recycling and Resurfacing Works:
The N59 road is now open.
However, please note that temporary traffic management measures such as temporary traffic lights and/or Stop-Go operations will be implemented as necessary to facilitate outstanding works. As a result, minor delays can be expected during this time.

OTHER WORKS:
Footpath works will continue on the R297 AT Muckduff, traffic management will be in place, Minor delays expected.
Finod drainage works:
Drainage works will be carried out at Finod commencing Monday 11th. A stop/go system will be in place with minor delays expected.
Pothole repair works will continue in the Enniscrone area. Traffic control will be in operation, minor delays are expected.

Main Street/Cliff Road junction:
Works are ongoing in Enniscrone at the junction of Main Street and Cliff Road for footpath and roadway repaving works. Traffic management is in place and temporary traffic lights will be in operation when required. Access to all businesses will be maintained though out the works.
TUBBERCURRY AREA:
Verge trimming works will commence on the N17 Bellahy to Collooney from Monday 18th September 2023. Works are expected to last 4 days. Traffic control will be in operation, minor delays are to be expected.
Pavement upgrade works will continue on the R294 at Rathmadder, Gurteen. A temporary road closure will be in place. Diversions via R293 to Ballymote / R296 Bunnanaddan and vice versa will be in operation. Works are expected to last 4 days.
Pothole repair works will continue in the Tubbercurry area. Traffic control will be in operation, but no delays are expected.
SLIGO STRANDHILL AREA:
Crossroads at Drumiskabole, to Ballysadare: New water mains installation:
The L3603 road, between the Drumiskabole crossroads and the old N4 Dublin road, is currently closed. A traffic diversion route will be in place, with access to local traffic only.
Road Restoration Killery:
Road Restoration will be carried out on the L7604-13 Killery, traffic management will be in place, A 50km.hr speed limit will be in operation within the site.
A temporary road closure will be in place, Local Access will be provided.
Footpath repair works will continue in Cloondara, Ballisodare.
