Traffic Report W/C 29th November, 2021

SLIGO AREA 

O’Connell Street – Cleaning Works:

  • Cleaning works (power washing, chewing gum removal etc) will be carried out to the paved footways along O’Connell Street during the hours of 18:30 to 22:00 from Monday 29th November through to Thursday 2nd December.  Sections of the footways will be cordoned off and traffic management for pedestrians will be in place.
  • A road closure of O’Connell Street will be in place on the evening of Monday 29th November from 18:30-22:00 in order to clean the paving to the pedestrian crossings along the street.  Traffic will be diverted via John Street, Adelaide Street and Wine Street.

 

Pearse Road – Cemetery Road Junction:

  • Surfacing works at the Pearse Road – Cemetery Road junction will take place on the evenings/nights of Wednesday 1st, Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd December.  Works will be carried out between 18:30-07:00.  Main contractor Lagan will have Traffic Management in place.  Delays are expected.  Sligo County Council regrets any inconvenience caused.

 

Cleveragh Drainage Improvement Works:

  • Drainage Improvement Works at Cleveragh in the vicinity of the Playground / Cleveragh Retail Park will continue for approximately two more weeks, weather permitting.  The works involve the realignment of the roadway (including relocation of the traffic calming islands), enhancement of the existing surface water drainage network, miscellaneous landscaping and civil works followed by resurfacing of the roadway.  Traffic Management measures will be in place throughout the duration of the works. Minor delays can be expected.

 

Pearse Road:

  • Pipelaying works for Irish Water will continue during the week on the Pearse Road around the Cairns View Estate area (on immediate south side of Markievicz Park).  A Traffic Management Plan will be in place but motorists may encounter minor delays.  These pipelaying works (by Farrans Contractors) works are expected to be completed by early December.

 

Cranmore Road Footpath Enhancement Works:

  • Footpath enhancement works along Cranmore Road between Devins Drive junction and St. Patrick’s Avenue will be ongoing until Wednesday, 1st December.  Temporary traffic management will be in place and minor delays can be expected.

 

Adelaide Street Footpath Enhancement Works:

  • Footpath enhancement works along Adelaide Street will commence on Thursday, 1st December and will take approximately three weeks to complete, weather permitting. Temporary traffic management will be in place and minor delays can be expected.

 

Second Sea Road – Drainage Improvement Works:

  • Drainage improvement works on the Second Sea Road between Woodville Court and Aylesbury Park will commence on Monday 29th November and will take one week to complete. Traffic lights will be in place for traffic management. Minor delays can be expected.

 

NTA Bus Stop Upgrades – Road Marking and Flag Pole Replacement  

Colas Contracting on behalf of the National Transport Authority will be carrying out upgrades of the bus stops throughout the Sligo Area over the coming weeks.

The areas of focus for week commencing 29th November are as follows:

  • Connaughton Road, SUH and Ballinode.
  • High Street,
  • Abbey Street,
  • Cemetery Road,
  • Devins Drive,
  • Circular Road
  • Cranmore Road.

Traffic Management will be in place at each location during the works. Minor delays can be expected.

 

Lake Isle Road:

  • KN Group will be carrying out works from Lake Isle Road to the IT.  Minimal traffic impact and working hours from 6:30 to 11:00 pm.  No delays expected.

 

N4-N15 Sligo Urban Improvement Scheme:

Lane Narrowing / Closures:

Intermittent lane narrowing will continue on the N4 Northbound & Southbound lanes between Rosses Point (R291) junction and Hughes Bridge during the hours of 10:00 and 16:00 hrs to facilitate works to ironwork, line marking, signage and footpath/verge works.

NORTH SLIGO AREA 

  • Roadworks will continue on Local Road L-74036-0 in Gortarowey, Drumcliffe.
  • Footpath construction works will be taking place in Carney village. Traffic management will be in operation with minor delays expected.

N15 Vehicle Restraint System (VRS) installation:

  • The installation of crash barriers on the N15 at Grange/Teesan/Rathcormac will continue. A dedicated traffic management plan will be in place for each location. Minor traffic delays are expected. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution. 

 

N16 National Primary Road – Willowbrook to Barroe Pavement Scheme:

  • Accommodation works to continue this week along the N16 between Willowbrook and Barroe townlands. Traffic Management will be in operation. Minor delays to be expected. This work will be ongoing for the rest of November and into the start of December. Motorists to exercise caution.

 

N15 National Primary Road – Drumcliffe:

  • Contractor working on behalf of Benbulben Group Water Scheme continue with works to install a new watermain on the N15 National Primary Road at Drumcliffe between junctions with Local Road L-3402-0, Castletown Road and L-3305-0, Carney Road.  Traffic Lights Stop/Go system will be in operation with traffic reduced to one lane during working hours.  Works expected to last 3-4 weeks. Delays may be expected.

 

Carney:

  • Pipelaying works for Irish Water will continue during the coming week in the environs of Carney Village. Sections of ageing watermains are being replaced along a stretch of the L3305 from Carney Village leading back towards Drumcliffe (in Coolbeg Townland) and along a stretch of the public road extending from the Village out towards Lissadell. A Traffic Management Plan is in place but Motorists can expect minor delays. These works are expected to be ongoing until mid-December.

 

Drumcliffe:

  • Ward and Burke Construction are working on behalf of Irish Water to upgrade wastewater facilities for Glebe Builders at the new HSE Health Centre in Drumcliffe.

 

ENNISCRONE AREA

  • Pothole repair works will continue in the Enniscrone area. Traffic control will be in operation, minor delays are expected.
  • Drainage works will continue at Rathglass.  Traffic Management will be in place.  Minor delays expected.

  • Footpath and ducting works will be carried out on the Pier Road L66017-0 (122). Traffic management will be in place.
  • Footpath and ducting works will be carried out on the Cliff Road L2601-0 (123). Traffic management will be in place. Car Parking restrictions will be in place.
  • Verge trimming will be carried out on the Carrowkeel, Carrowbleagh, Carrowvard, L6213-0 (27), L2203-0 (33) Lecarrow/Drumagoal, and L2301-0 (18) Aughris, Cartronfarry Traffic management will be in place, minor delays expected.

N59 Owenbeg Phase 3 – Pavement Investigation Works

  • Pavement Investigation works to start on Monday the 29th of November on the N59 between Owenbeg and Culleens. Traffic Management will be in operation. Minor delays to be expected. This work will be ongoing for the week. Motorists to exercise caution.

 

Dromore West:

  • Works required to repair defective Watermain along the Northbound Carriageway of the N59 in the village of Dromore West, Sligo. Traffic Control will be in place. Sligo County Council and Irish Water apologise for any inconvenience caused.

 

R297 from Mayo Border to Dromore West:

  • Drainage works will be carried out on the R297, from the Mayo Border to Dromore west. Traffic management will be in place, minor delays expected.

 

BALLYMOTE AREA 

  • Pothole repair ongoing throughout the area. Traffic management will be in operation with minor delays expected.
  • Footpath works to take place on the R293 Sligo side of Ballymote. Traffic lights will be in operation with minor delays expected.
  • Verge trimming will take place along the R293, R296 and R295. Traffic management will be in operation with minor delays expected.
  • Line marking works will take place along the R293 and R296 junction at the Loftus Hall in Ballymote Town. Minor delays expected.

   

N4 Collooney to Castlebaldwin Road Project:

  • A Stop/Go traffic light system lane closure will be in place on the L3700 at the Ardloy underbridge until the 15th November, 2021.
  • A Stop/Go traffic management arrangement is in place on the L1404 West and the Old N4 in Castlebaldwin Village to facilitate the construction of a new roundabout junction which forms part of the N4 Collooney to Castlebaldwin Road Project. It is expected that these works will be ongoing until the 29th of October 2021.
  • Please note an advisory 55kph speed limit is in operation in these work zones.

In addition to the above, the N4 Collooney to Castlebaldwin Road Project construction works are continuing and shall require the following traffic management for the coming week:

  • The realigned L-7611-0 at Toberbride/Mullaghnabreena Td. from its junction with the L-7612-0 in the townland of Mullaghnabreena Td. to its new junction with the L-3700 (Eastern Parallel Link road) in the townland of Toberbride is now opened to public traffic. 
  • The L-7612-0 is now closed to public traffic for widening and reconstruction works. Local access shall be maintained via the newly constructed L-7611-0.
  • The L-3606-9 Local Road at Cloonamahan from its junction with the N4 National Primary road to the junction with the L-14019-0 is opened to public traffic. However, traffic cannot access/egress at the old N4/L3606-9 junction. Traffic is diverted to a new permanent junction with the L-3700 approximately 500m to the south which shall bring traffic through an underbridge and onto a new roundabout which is signposted with relevant destinations.  Traffic management and an advisory speed limit of 35kph shall remain in place as remedial works are ongoing.
  • Ongoing General Site Works on the L-55015 at Doorly.
  • The L-55016 at Knockagroagh is opened to public traffic. Traffic management, local diversions and an advisory speed limit of 35kph shall remain in place as remedial works are ongoing.
  • The L-5502-0 at Drumfin Td. approximately 310 metres west of its junction with the existing N4 for a distance of approximately 570 metres in a westerly direction towards the Bogline Bridge is opened to public traffic. Traffic management and an advisory speed limit of 35kph shall remain in place as remedial works are ongoing. 
  • The L-1502 at Cloonlurg Td. is opened to public traffic. Traffic management and an advisory speed limit of 35kph shall remain in place as remedial works are ongoing.
  • The L-5402-0 at Carrownagark Td. approximately 190 metres west of its junction with the existing N4 to the crossroads junction with the L-5403-0 in the townland of Kilmorgan is opened to public traffic. However, traffic management and an advisory speed limit of 35kph shall remain in place as remedial works will be ongoing. 
  • General site works are ongoing on the L-54033 at Kingsbrook and traffic management and an advisory speed limit of 35kph shall remain in place as remedial works will be ongoing. 
  • Ongoing general site works on the L-5403 at Ardloy and traffic management and an advisory speed limit of 35kph shall remain in place as remedial works will be ongoing.
  • The L-5401 at Springfield/Tawnagh Td. is opened to public traffic. Traffic management and an advisory speed limit of 35kph shall remain in place as remedial works are ongoing.
  • Ongoing general site works on the L-1404 and the L-1403 at Drumderry/Castlebaldwin. The L-1404 is now opened to public traffic. However, traffic management and an advisory speed limit of 35kph shall remain in place as remedial works are ongoing.
  • Works shall continue south of Castlebaldwin Village in the townland of Cloghoge Upper to facilitate the tie in works. Stop Go shall also be in place intermittently. Please note an advisory 55kph speed limit is in operation in this work zone.

TUBBERCURRY AREA

  • Pothole repair works will continue in the Tubbercurry area.

 

Toberscardan:

  • Pipelaying Works for Irish Water are programmed to continue during the week along a 1.9km stretch of the N17 north-east of Tubbercurry (in the townland of Toberscardan). Traffic lights will be in place and minor delays can be expected. These pipelaying works (by Farrans Contractors) works are expected to be ongoing until early December.

 

STRANDHILL AREA

  • General maintenance including Pothole repair, hedge and verge trimming and gulley cleaning operations are  ongoing throughout the area.  Traffic management will be in operation with minor delays expected.
  • Construction of new footpaths will continue on the R290 Ballintogher at Altvelid. Traffic management will be in place along the R290 with no delays expected.
  • Road Reinstatement works will be carried out in Drumaskibbole, near Colm Byrne’s car sales. Traffic management will be in operation.

R-287 - Carraroe Retail Park Roundabout

  • Surfacing works at the Carraroe Retail Park round-about will take place on the evenings/nights of Tuesday 30th November and Wednesday 1st December. Works will be carried out between 18:30-07:00. Main contractor Lagan will have Traffic Management in place. Delays are expected. Sligo County Council regrets any inconvenience caused.

 

R-287 Carraroe Hill

  • Drainage works will take place on the R-287 Carraroe Hill on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd December.
