Friends of Sligo Gaol

Friends of Sligo Gaol is a voluntary organisation dedicated to preserving, promoting and raising awareness of the historical, architectural and cultural significance of Sligo Gaol.

The group has played an important role in documenting the history of the Gaol and advocating for its conservation and future use. Their work has helped foster public appreciation of one of Ireland's most significant historic prison buildings and one of the finest surviving examples of a Panopticon-style prison.

As Sligo County Council progresses the redevelopment of Sligo Gaol through the THRIVE programme, the contribution of Friends of Sligo Gaol continues to support wider efforts to preserve and celebrate this important heritage asset for future generations.
