Dr. Eoin Lettice is a lecturer in plant science at the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Science (BEES) and the Environmental Research Institute (ERI) at University College Cork.  His research interests include plant pathology, biological control, soil biology, sustainable agriculture as well as the role of urban trees and green spaces.

What Are Veteran Trees? - and how we should look after them

Cormac Downey has worked on, up and with trees for the last 30 years. His journey into arboriculture began in 1990 and developed from working as a commercial climber to running his own tree surgery business for 19 years. In 2016 he was appointed Arboricultural Officer, for the Office of Public Works, the first ever in Ireland.  He holds the PDArb (RFS), NDArb from Merrist Wood (UK) and a HND in Rural Resource Management) from Seale-Hayne (UK).  He is an active member of the Irish Branch of the Arboricultural Association and is currently Vice-President of the Tree Council of Ireland.

Artist-In-Residence, Fion Gunn, "Plant More Trees!"

We are celebrating National Tree Week by hosting a Zoom event in collaboration with Orla Farrell, Founder and Leader, Easy Treesie Project with Crann.  In this initiative by the MCI’s Youth Voices Team, we will launch and screen our artist-in-residence, Fion Gunn’s work, ‘Plant More Trees!’ (A virtual reality work).

The Easy Treesie Story - Film Friday

Orla Farrell set up the Easy Treesie Project to rise to the Plant-for-the-Planet challenge. The project works with registered charity Crann, Trees for Ireland and partners with Local Authorities and local communities everywhere, drawing from a tree-mendous pool of supporters.
