Cathaoirleach Cllr Gerard Mullaney proudly hosted a reception to honour the students from Kempten University who are currently participating in an annual exchange program with Sligo ATU, today Wednesday 1st May.
Cathaoirleach’s Reception for Kempten University Students
This event celebrated the longstanding town twinning charter between Kempten and Sligo, which has fostered a strong bond of collaboration and cultural exchange between the two communities since 1980.
Also in attendance at the reception were Dymphna Gorman, President of Sligo Town Twinning, Imelda Harte, Philippe Huel and Michael Clancy, Sligo Town Twinning committee, Director of Services Jim Molloy. Prof. Dr Thomas Zeh, Prof. Dr. Michael Schorer from Kempten University, Rudie Coppieters and Caroline Clancy from ATU Sligo were also in attendance.
In his address, the Cathaoirleach expressed his delight at hosting the talented students from Kempten University and emphasised the importance of international partnerships in nurturing innovation and fostering educational growth. He praised the longstanding town twinning charter between Sligo and Kempten, acknowledging the significant impact it has had on strengthening cultural ties and promoting academic collaboration.
Speaking at the reception, President of Sligo Town Twinning Dymphna Gorman said the exchange program between Kempten University and Sligo ATU stands as a shining example of the significance of this twinning charter and the opportunities it presents for our communities.
This exchange program is not merely about education or research; it is about building bridges between nations, fostering understanding, and nurturing lifelong connections.
Ms Gorman thanked the faculty members, administrators, and staff of both Kempten University and Sligo ATU for their dedication and hard work in making this exchange program a reality.
