Sligo County Council to pause Private Housing Adaptation Grants for Older People & Disabled People

Sligo County Council to pause Private Housing Adaptation Grants for Older People & Disabled People

Sligo County Council, due to the success of the Scheme resulting in a very significant demand, will temporarily pause accepting new applications (other than applications that meet Priority 1 criteria) for Housing Adaptation Grants for Disabled People (HAGs), Mobility Aids Grants (MAGs), and Housing Aid for Older People Grants (HOPs).

This measure will take place with immediate effect.

The decision follows a detailed review, which assessed current resources, high volume of applications submitted in 2025 to date, the projected waiting times for grants to be processed, and ongoing budget commitments.

Sligo County Council recognises that the Scheme aims to support vulnerable members of the community to remain in their homes and within their communities for as long as possible.

These are necessary measures to ensure existing commitments are met and to prioritise those applicants with the most urgent medical and care needs.

The situation will be reviewed again in early 2026 and any decision to recommence the scheme will be subject to adequate funding being available.
