Mayor Cllr Tom MacSharry and members of the Borough District of Sligo Municipal District were delighted to welcome Sligo Rovers Football and Responsibility Officer Mr Jamie Murphy, to Sligo City Hall on the 9th of December 2024.

The role of the Football and Social Responsibility (FSR) Officer is supported by Sligo County Council in collaboration with Sligo Rovers. Mr Jamie Murphy outlined the activities and events held by the club to date since his appointment. The role supports and promotes football in our community and works to remove any barriers to participation. Mr Jamie Murphy has delivered many activities that promote participation in football, and to tackle exclusion based on gender, socio economic background, ethnicity, and disability. Working with new communities and disadvantaged areas to promote mental health and physical wellbeing through football.
