Councillor Mulvey recalled the late Councillor as 'a dedicated public representative who gave a lifetime of service to his community. He worked tirelessly for the people of West Sligo and this was appreciated by the people in his area. Paul was greatly respected by the elected members he served with and his wide range of interests was reflected in the issues he tabled for discussion in the Council Chamber.’
Acting Chief Executive Tom Kilfeather said the late Councillor Conmy was ‘a committed public representative and held a number of important positions during his time as a Councillor. He served as Leas Cathaoirleach in 2000 and played a decisive role in chairing the Council's Strategic Policy Committee on Environment at a critical time when Local Authorities were beginning to appreciate the importance of our responsibilities in this area.'
Paul will be fondly remembered as one of the great characters of the Council Chamber. The Cathaoirleach and Acting Chief Executive extended their sympathies to his wife Breda and family on behalf of the elected members and staff.
