Background

The Draft Ballymote Local Area Plan was on public display from 23 January to 5 March 2012.

Draft Ballymote Local Area Plan 2012-2018

On 14 May 2012, having considered the Draft Ballymote Local Area Plan (LAP) and the First Manager’s Report (PDF) - 196 kbs on the written submissions received, the members of Sligo County Council resolved to propose amendments to the Draft Local Area Plan. One of the proposed amendments appeared to have the potential to impact on the environment.

The potential environmental effects of the Proposed Amendments (PDF) - 2,491 kbs have been assessed. The assessment is presented in an Addendum (PDF) - 406 kbs to the initial SEA Screening Report dated January 2012.

As the proposed amendments were deemed to be a material alteration of the Draft LAP, they were placed on public display for a period of 4 weeks, from 18 July to 15 August 2012.

Following public consultation on the Proposed Amendments, the Second Manager’s Report (PDF) - 193 kbs was prepared and submitted to the elected members of Sligo County Council before they decided to adopt the LAP on 3 September 2012.

Ballymote Local Area Plan 2012-2018

On 3 September 2012, the elected members of Sligo County Council adopted the Ballymote Local Area Plan 2012-2018 (LAP). The LAP enters in force on 1 October 2012 and will remain operational for 6 years. The Plan can be amended at any stage during its life.

Ballymote LAP is accompanied by a Strategic Environmental Assessment Screening Report and an Appropriate Assessment Screening Report.
