Minutes of The Annual General Meeting of Sligo-Drumcliff Municipal District Held on Monday 19th June 2026 at 9.30am in The Council Chamber, County Hall, Riverside, Co. Sligo

CATHAOIRLEACH:

Cathaoirleach, Councillor Marie Casserly, presided. The Cathaoirleach welcomed all present to the meeting and thanked members for their support over the past year which was a very busy but enjoyable year.  Councillor Casserly noted in particular the holding of the Municipal District meeting in the Spanish Armada Centre in Grange on Monday, 9^th March, 2026.  Councillor Casserly thanked all staff of the Council for the courtesy shown to her over the past year and noted the forthcoming retirement of Ms. Sarah McNamara, Meeting Administrator.

Members thanked and congratulated Councillor Casserly for her hard work and the respect and fairness shown to each member and over the past year as Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District.  Mr. J. Molloy, on behalf of the Executive and staff, thanked Councillor Casserly for the well ran meetings and work that was achieved throughout the year in the Municipal District area.

 

1. TO ELECT A CATHAOIRLEACH:

Proposed by Councillor T. Walsh
Seconded by Councillor M. Casserly

AND AGREED

“To elect Councillor Edel McSharry as Cathaoirleach of the Sligo – Drumcliff Municipal District”

As there were no other nominations, Cllr. Edel McSharry was elected Cathaoirleach of the Sligo – Drumcliff Municipal District.

Councillor E. McSharry then assumed the Chair and expressed her honour at being elected to the position of Cathaoirleach for the forthcoming year.   She thanked her proposer and seconder and the outgoing Cathaoirleach and members for their support.  Councillor McSharry acknowledged the support of her family, some of whom were present in the Chamber.

 

2. TO ELECT A LEAS CHATHAOIRLEACH:

Proposed by Councillor M. Casserly
Seconded by Councillor E. McSharry

AND AGREED:

“That Councillor Thomas Walsh be elected as Leas-Cathaoirleach of the Sligo-Drumcliff Municipal District.”

Members congratulated Councillor Walsh on being elected Leas- Cathaoirleach of the Sligo – Drumcliff MD area.  Councillor Walsh acknowledged it is a proud day for him and he looks forward to working with the Cathaoirleach for a positive year ahead.

 

3. TO SET A DATE FOR THE NEXT SLIGO-DRUMCLIFF MD MEETING:

The next MD meeting was scheduled for Friday, 10^th July at 9.30am in the Council Chamber.

  

The business of the meeting concluded at 10.20am.
