MOTIONS

  1. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor A Gibbons
    “To ask the Road department of this local authority, as to what plans are being put in place to enhance and upgrade the top road in Strandhill village, part of The R292. The lack of continuous footpaths on the Eastern side of the road, lack of Traffic calming, to deal with vehicular speeding, these are major health and safety issues that are of concerns to the local community, and particularly those with young families who reside on the Eastern side of the R292”.
  2. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor G O’Boyle
    “Can Sligo County Council put in place a speed survey in Jinks Avenue and Treacy avenue with the possibility of speed precautions in both areas”.
  3. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor G O’Boyle
    “Can Sligo County Council upgrade the footpaths in Tracey Avenue and the footpath through the alleyway”.
  4. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor G O’Boyle
    “Can Sligo County Council upgrade the footpaths in Hazel Grove Maugheraboy”.
  5. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor F Nealon
    That this Council conducts a  Strandhill Village Framework Plan', showcasing how the village plans for the future by appraising its zoning and the village in its current state to recognise how best to create new developments, public amenities, public space, traffic management, character of village.-How do we plan for and use public spaces, what is the village character, how does pedestrian and vehicle traffic flow work.”
  6. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor  T. MacSharry
    “That Sligo MD engineering staff would engage with a delegation of residents from Tracey Avenue in relation to remedial works, the need for traffic calming measures and issues relating to the alleyway to the steps”.
  7. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. MacSharry
    “That Sligo MD would take in charge the Pumping station that services Aylesbury Park, Sligo”.
  8. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree
    “That the meeting be provided with a progress report in regard to the provision of footpaths, cycle lanes and traffic calming measures on the R292 and R277 linking Strandhill village with Dorrins Strand estate and the Queen Meave Trail; the report to include details of the preliminary design which was submitted to the National Transport Authority (NTA), and when it is expected that the preliminary design will be approved by the NTA,  and when it is expected that the Public Consultation phase of the project will commence.”
  9. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree
    “Aware that the decision by the Fine Gael/Labour government to abolish Sligo Borough Council and all the other Borough and Town Councils was a serious attack on local democracy; and recognising the importance of urban local government and the successful manner in which it delivered services to its citizens over the decades; this Borough District reiterates its call for the restoration of borough and town councils and further calls for a genuine devolution of powers to local government in addition to directly elected Mayors with executive powers.”
  10. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor N. Cosgrove
    In the interest of Health & Safety that Sligo MD approach the owners of the carpark in Cartron Village regarding improving the condition of the road surface and crumbling wall.”
  11. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor N. Cosgrove
    “That Sligo MD source additional funding to upgrade and replace the play equipment in Seaview Park recreational area.”
  12. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor N. Cosgrove
    “That Sligo MD erect a 'Seaville Estate' name sign and 'Children at play' signage at the entrance to Seaville Estate.” 
  13. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor A. Gibbons
    “That new street name signage be provided at both entrances to Darty view estate Connaughton Rd, and that the entrance to the estate be tidied up, IE hedges cut back.” 
  14. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor A. Gibbons
    “That this local authority would seek funding for a Remedial Works enhancement Scheme to upgrade the footpaths, lights and Alleyway at Treacy Avenue similar to that carried out at Jinks Avenue and Garvogue Villas.” 
  15. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor F.Nealon
    That this council considers a fair, open and equitable means of sharing the role of mayor and deputy mayor in forthcoming years . Giving the opportunity to all elected members to share the honour of office”.

    “That this council supports the building of a Tidal pool in Strandhill”
  17. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree
    That the meeting be provided with a progress report relating to Phase 1 of the proposed footpath construction/ reinstatement and provision of access steps at Gibraltar and when it is expected that works will commence on the project”.
