  1. To confirm the Minutes of the Meeting of  the Borough District of Sligo held on 20th July 2020 (copy attached and posted on extranet).   
  2. Matters Arising.   
  3. To receive an update on the preparation of a Local Area Plan for the Sligo and Environs area (verbal update).
  4. To receive an update on the delivery of the Historic Towns Initiative in O’Connell Street, Sligo (copy of report attached and posted on extranet).

 

MOTIONS

  1. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor R. O’Grady:
    “That Sligo County Council upgrades and repairs the footpath at Cairns Road beside the bus stop”.
  2. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor A. Gibbons:
    “That the Roads Department of Sligo County Council install pedestrian crossings at Upper and Lower Holborn Street, Sligo to facilitate wheelchair users, children and the general public”.
  3. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor R. O’Grady:
    “That Sligo County Council review the footpaths in Thornhill Estate”.
  4. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree:
    “That the meeting be provided with a report regarding the maintenance of navigational aids  (Local Aids to Navigation) in Sligo Harbour, the report to include procedures for responding to outages/failures; record of failures and repair time; average performance over the last three years; and further to ask if the Council submits reports on such matters to the Commissioners of Irish Lights; and to ask if the Commissioners of Irish Lights carries out annual inspections of the navigational aids; and to ask and if such reports are available for inspection, and to ask the Chief Executive if he will make a statement on the matter”.
  5. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree:
    “That the meeting be provided with a progress report on the proposed T2-T12 road, linking the junction of Mail Coach Road/Connolly Street with the junction of Burton Street/Pearse Road”.
  6. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree:
    “That this meeting supports the call by the Union of Students in Ireland (USI) for the introduction of six emergency rental measures for students including:
    1. Waiver on rent for students who cannot access their accommodation when expected due to local lockdowns or in the case of changes to college start or finish dates;
    2. Students to be enabled to end leases and other rental contracts early in the case of a second wave or lockdown;
    3. Landlords not allowed to withhold deposits in the case of a second wave or lockdown;
    4. No penalties for early termination of leases and other rental contracts for Covid related reasons;
    5. No evictions of students during the Covid-19 pandemic;
    6. Landlords obliged to return prepaid rents in the case of a second wave or lockdown”.
  7. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor G. O’Boyle:
    “Can Sligo County Council cut the green area in Fr. Flanagan Terrace?”
  8. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor G. O’Boyle:
    “Can Sligo County Council give a timeframe as to when they are going to clean up the rubbish left outside Sea Road Villas and erect a gate to stop the illegal dumping?”
  9. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor A. Gibbons:
    “Can Sligo County Council Roads Department bring forward a report on what measures can be taken for the traffic exiting Kevinsfort Heath, Seaview Park and all the other housing estates on the First Sea Road when the new Western Distributor Road is opened?”.
  10. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor A. Gibbons:
    “That Sligo County Council would allocate funding to bring the pedestrian walkway known as ‘Mud-Lane, Cartron Foreshore’ up to a satisfactory standard of safety and accessibility for everyone, also to provide funding for the enhancement and development of the foreshore area”.
  11. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. Maguire:
    “This motion requests an update be provided on the National Surf Centre of Excellence in Strandhill”.

    1. Acknowledgement letter from the Office of the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection dated 24th July 2020 re: pension entitlements for Community Employment Supervisors.
