Ballymote - Tubbercurry Minutes 2025

Minutes of the Annual General Meeting of The Municipal District of Ballymote-Tubbercurry held on Monday 7th July, 2025 at 3 pm in The Council Chamber, County Hall, Riverside, Co. Sligo.


COUNCILLORS PRESENT:

  • Councillor Joseph Queenan (Cathaoirleach)
  • Councillor Michael Clarke
  • Councillor Gerard  Mullaney
  • Councillor Dara Mulvey
  • Councillor Barry Gallagher
  • Councillor Paul Taylor
  • Councillor Liam Brennan

 

OFFICIALS IN ATTENDANCE:

  • Ms. Emer Concannon, Director of Services
  • Ms. Olivia Black, Staff Officer

 

CATHAOIRLEACH:

Cathaoirleach, Councillor Joseph Queenan presided and welcomed everyone to the meeting.  He thanked Ms Emer Concannon for all her help and support to him and Ms Olivia Black for all her administration support.  He thanked all Departments in Sligo County Council for their support and each Councillor for their collaboration in this Municipal District.

Each Councillor thanked Councillor Queenan for all his hard work over the last twenty four months.  They also thanked Ms. Concannon, Ms. Black and Ms. McNamara for their support.  The press was thanked for attending the meetings also.

 

1. ELECTION OF CATHAOIRLEACH:

PROPOSED BY: COUNCILLOR P. TAYLOR
SECONDED BY: COUNCILLOR L. BRENNAN

AND AGREED

“To elect Councillor Michael Clarke as Cathaoirleach of the Ballymote – Tubbercurry Municipal District.”

Councillor Clarke thanked the members on his election and stressed the importance that all members continue their hard work for the good of the whole area within the Municipal District.  He was saddened by the accident over the weekend in Carndonagh, Donegal, where a young Mum, Natalie McLaughlin and her Daughter, Ella lost their lives R.I.P.

 

2. ELECTION OF LEAS-CHATHAOIRLEACH:

PROPOSED BY COUNCILLOR B. Gallagher
SECONDED BY COUNCILLOR J. Queenan

AND AGREED

“To elect Councillor Liam Brennan as Leas-Cathaoirleach of the Ballymote Tubbercurry Municipal District.”

Councillor Brennan thanked his proposer and seconder and assured the Cathaoirleach of his support.  He thanked all Councillors for their help and support to him and Councillor Gallagher as they are newly appointed to this Municipal District.  He also thanked Ms. Concannon and Ms. Black for all their help

Ms. Emer Concannon, Director of Service, thanked Councillor Queenan for his professionalism and leadership over the last twenty four months. The Municipal District works very well as all Councillors work together for the benefit of MD. She congratulated Councillors Clarke and Brennan on their appointments today.
