Minutes of the Meeting of the Municipal District of Ballymote-Tubbercurry Held on Monday, 14th March, 2022 at 2.00 P.M. in Teach Laighne, Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo

The Cathaoirleach, Councillor Martin Connolly, presided and welcomed those present to the meeting.
1. SCHEDULE OF MUNICIPAL DISTRICT WORKS 2022 – INCLUDING DRAFT ROADS, TRANSPORTATION, AND INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRAMME:
Mr. Tom Brennan, Senior Engineer, informed Members that a total of €11.8m has been allocated from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (T.I.I.), (€15.9m) from the Dept. of Transport (€3m) from the NTA and Sligo County Council (€1m) for the improvement and maintenance of the public road network in Co. Sligo for 2022.
Mr. Brennan then proceeded to guide Members through the proposed programme of works which had been circulated in advance of the meeting. The programme specified the allocation of funding received, together with a detailed breakdown of all planned expenditure for the year in relation to specific projects and categorised headings and outlined each individual category that related to the Municipal District.
Mr. Brennan advised that the Active Travel Scheme allocation of €3.02m enabled the Council to establish a dedicated Active Travel Team to progress this programme.
In conclusion, Mr. Brennan informed Members of the continuation of Community Involvement Schemes (C.I.S.), Local Improvement Schemes (L.I.S.) and CLÁR Schemes. It is noted that the allocation for the CIS for 2022 is €473,000.
Members thanked Mr. Brennan for his detailed report and complimented the Roads staff for their continued good work in the District area. Members also noted the great work undertaken during the Covid Pandemic by both the indoor and outdoor Roads Staff.
It was noted by Cllr Baker that a meeting has been requested with the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport following the last meeting of the Full Council.
In reply to specific queries, Mr. Brennan answered as follows:
Community Involvement Scheme Allocation:
Noted that going forward grants from Community Schemes only should be considered and not commercial entities.
N59 Overlay deferred:
Noted nightly movement to the Windfarm in the area.
Bridge works allocation:
Noted allocation on an “as need” basis.
N59 Corhownagh to Crockacullion
Route selected. Report not published to date.
Doorly to Castlebaldwin Cycle way:
At feasibility stage.
Sooey Public Car Park:
Tom Brennan to arrange meeting with public in Sooey. Cllrs Baker and Mullaney to be invited.

N4 CCRD Project:
Following reps from Cllr Mullaney, Ms. Concannon A/DOS to contact Mr. Bernard Scott, Project Engineer regarding the roundabout/crash barrier at Castlebaldwin.
It was agreed by all Members present to send get well wishes to Director of Service Mr. Tom Kilfeather.
A vote of sympathy was extended to the Dolphin and Smolaka families following a recent road traffic accident.
