  1. To confirm the Minutes of the Meeting of  the Municipal District of Sligo held on 18th February 2019 (copy attached and posted on extranet).

DEFERRED MOTIONS

  1. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. MacSharry: 
    “That Sligo County Council immediately commence the process to survey existing landing facilities at Inismurray Island and undertake the design of necessary improvements to the satisfaction of the Marine Survey Office and set about undertaking the necessary works as a matter of urgency with support on funding if necessary from the Departments of Transport, Marine and Environment”.

  1. To consider the following motion as submitted by CouncillorM. Casserly: 
    “That Sligo County Council source funding to carry out further repairs to the Harbour Wall at Mullaghmore on the sea side of what is known locally as the New Harbour although it is several hundred years old. The stones which fell into the sea causing the new hole are only visible at very low tide”.
  2. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor C. MacManus:
    “To ask for an update on the provision of the National Surf Centre of Excellence in Strandhill”.
  3. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor C. MacManus:
    “To ask are there any proposals regarding the traffic management at the Abbey Street\Castle Street junction as currently residents of the Lower East Ward have to take an indirect route to access the commercial centre or cross the Garavogue if using a vehicle”.
  4. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. MacSharry:
    “That Sligo County Council engineering and parks staff provide a park bench at the green space at the end of Ard Na Mara, Cartron Point”.
  5. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. MacSharry:
    “That Sligo County Council re-line the car parking spaces at the beachfront in Strandhill before the Summer”.
  6. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Casserly:
    “That the Roads Department make enquiries about the possibility of installing flashing speed signs either side of Grange Village”.
  7. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. Kilgannon:
    “To request Sligo County Council Roads Department to carry out urgent drainage work and resurfacing work on the link road off the N16 to the Glencar road at Gortnagrelly, Glencar, Co. Sligo”.
  8. To consider the following motion as submitted by CouncillorS. Kilgannon:
    “Sligo County Council calls on the National Transport Authority and Bus Éireann to restore the Sligo Town Bus Service S1 and S2 to the Community Centre in Carraroe to facilitate a Park and Ride service to Sligo City which would be the first such service in Sligo.”
  9. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Casserly:
    “World famous Sligo band Dervish are approaching their 30th anniversary on May 10th and to recognise the role that Dervish played as ambassadors for the region and the country, I propose that Sligo County Council mark this significant milestone with a civic reception”. 
  10. To consider the following motion as submitted by CouncillorS. Kilgannon:
    “Early morning traffic turning right on to the N15 from the Carney road are delayed up to 15 minutes.  I call on Sligo County Council Roads Department and TII to survey this junction with a view to making improvements to speed up traffic flow from the Carney road”.
  11. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor C. MacManus:
    To ask that the Council provide a report on any proposed planned housing maintenance in either ‘The Woodlands’ or ‘Elm Gardens’, Ballytivnan”.
  12. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree:
    “Aware that town/municipal councils should be at the heart of our local government system: noting that the former Borough and Town councils were the most efficient element within the Irish local government system; this meeting calls on government to establish a new tier of sub-county municipal government with directly elected Mayors with executive powers.”
  13. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree:
    That the meeting be provided with a report indicating when Hudsons Lane will be reopened”.
  14. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree:
    “That this meeting resolves that the Chairperson of the Sligo Municipal District Committee be described henceforth as the Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District.”
  15. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. MacSharry:
    "That Sligo County Council engineering staff would assess and address the following issues in Greenfort estate in the interests of health and safety:
    1. Repair works to the footpaths in the estate.
    2. Traffic calming measures where appropriate at the junctions in the estate.
    3. The pooling of water on the lower road in the estate.
    4. The provision of a safety handrail along the steps on the steep hill in the estate”.

    “Can Sligo County Council have an update on the decision of land for Cartron Community Playground?”
