  2. To confirm the Minutes of the Meeting of  the Municipal District of Sligo held on 12th November 2018 to consider the Draft Budgetary Plan (copy attached and posted on extranet).   
  3. To confirm the Minutes of the Meeting of the Municipal District of Sligo held on 17th December 2018 (copy attached and posted on extranet).
  4. Matters Arising.
  5. To consider the Schedule of Municipal District Works 2019 – including Draft Roads, Transportation and Infrastructure Programme (reports to follow).  
  6. To hear a presentation on the Yeats Society’s plans for the year to celebrate the 60th International Summer School.

 

DEFERRED MOTIONS

  1. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. MacSharry:
    “That Sligo County Council immediately commence the process to survey existing landing facilities at Inismurray Island and undertake the design of necessary improvements to the satisfaction of the Marine Survey Office and set about undertaking the necessary works as a matter of urgency with support on funding if necessary from the Departments of Transport, Marine and Environment”.
  2. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. Maguire and Councillor M. Casserly:
    “That Sligo will become a Breastfeeding Friendly city and introduce the supports required to encourage more mothers to begin and continue breastfeeding for longer”.
  3. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. Healy:
    “To call on Sligo County Council to make an application for funding under the low cost accident schemes in 2019, to address the following concerns on the Knockbeg/Collooney road as there is a lack of footpaths, very poor public lighting and the need for speed calming measures along this route”.

  1. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Casserly:
    “To call on Sligo County Council to make an application for funding under the Low Cost Accident Schemes in 2020 to upgrade footpaths in Grange village particularly in the south side of the village”.
  2. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor G. O’Boyle:
    “How many housing allocations were made to those in long term RAS accommodation?”
  3. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor G. O’Boyle:
    “Can I receive an update regarding the proposed pedestrian crossing on Forthill?”
  4. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. MacSharry:
    That Sligo County Council write to the Ministers for Local Government, Eoghan Murphy and John Paul Phelan requesting the following:
    1. Clarification as to why Cork, Galway, Waterford and Limerick NOT Sligo were chosen to vote next May on whether a Mayor should be directly elected or not, given the fact Mr. Martin Forde delivered a petition with 1,100 signatures requesting Sligo to be considered for this initiative.
    2. That Sligo is immediately included with Cork, Galway, Waterford and Limerick in the upcoming May poll".
  5. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. MacSharry:
    “That Sligo County Council would write to Barna Waste (Barna Recycling) asking them to stop early morning i.e. between 5am and 7am collections in residential areas in Sligo where they are waking up families with young children".
  6. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. MacSharry:
    “That Sligo County Council outdoor and environmental staff would plant necessary shrubbery or hedge along the dividing fence between Heatherview and Meadowvale to improve the appearance and aesthetics of the separating boundary".
  7. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Casserly:
    “That Sligo County Council contact the NTA to have the Leap Cards validation process available in a local office in Sligo, the current position being that Child 16-18 years must travel to the nearest office in Galway with ID and booking reference number to prove the child's date of birth”.
  8. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor G. O’Boyle:
    “That Sligo County Council do fire health and safety checks on all emergency accommodation”.
  9. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor C. MacManus:
    “To ask how much in contributions has been gathered to date re:special fund to upgrade the ‘Top Road’ section of the R292 in Strandhill Village? Such contributions were attached as planning conditions for new residential developments along the ‘Top Road’ in the village”.
  10. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor C. MacManus:
    “To ask can lighting be provided for Curley\Mitchell Park as the only current illumination for the Park is from street lighting on Roger Eames Road?”.
  11. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. Healy:
    “To call on Sligo County Council for an update report on the unfinished housing estate the Fairways and the finished housing estate Riocht Ná Sí, both in Ballygawley”.
  12. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Casserly:
    “That Sligo County Council apply for funding under the Fishery Harbour and Coastal Infrastructure Development Programme 2019 to protect the coastal path at Lislary in North Sligo. The local path has being undermined after recent storms and remedial works are required to protect the path from further erosion and can a larger sign be fitted also warning motorists of the dangers there?”
  13. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. Kilgannon:
    “To request a report on the construction of a footpath from the Church in Rosses Point to the National School”.
  14. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. Kilgannon:
    “To ask the Chief Executive what progress has been made with CIE re: the provision of a car park at Sligo train station”.
  15. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. Kilgannon:
    “Sligo County Council calls on the Minister for Education to address the two tier pay structure for school secretaries”.
  16. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree:
    “To ask the Chief Executive what efforts have been made to seek grant aid to allow the Council to refurbish the Gibraltar amenity area and develop a linear park system along the seashore from Gibraltar to the Sligo urban area at the docks.”
  17. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree:
    “That the meeting be provided with an up to date report on the proposed T2-T12 road linking the junction of Mail Coach Road/Connolly Street with the junction of Burton Street/Pearse Road; the report to include details of the most recent submission made to the Department seeking funding for the project.”
  18. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. Healy:
    “To call on the Chief Executive for an update report on what measures Sligo County Council and Irish Water have taken to assess the feasibility of an upgrade for the North Sligo public water supply from the Gortnaleck and Lyle streams”.
  19. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. Healy:
    “To call on Sligo County Council to write to the National Transport Authority in regards to providing bus shelters for the following villages: Collooney, Ballisodare, Grange and Cliffoney”.  
  20. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor C. MacManus:
    “That the Sligo Municipal Roads Department would include a clean-up of the public alleyway between Thornhill and Cedar Drive as part of its ongoing programme of such works. This alleyway serves as an important pedestrian access to Scoil Ursula N.S. and subsequently alleviates traffic levels adjacent to the school”.

    “That the Council consider providing a yellow box junction on Pearse Road immediately south of the junction with New Circular Road.”
