  4. Presentation by The Model, home of the Niland Collection on a new outreach initiative engaging National Schools in County Sligo, being piloted in 2016/2017.

  1. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. Kilgannon:
    “Sligo County Council welcomes the strong performance by the I.D.A. for the first six months of 2016, and this Council calls on our four elected T.D.s to ensure that Sligo Town and County gets its share of new jobs created by inward investment ”
  2. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. Kilgannon:
    “Sligo County Council calls on the Department of Education to ensure that the focus must be on Central Government to provide adequate funding for higher education, and not by raising student fees.”

  1. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. MacSharry:
    "That Sligo County Council engineering department provide an update on my motion for the provision of a pedestrian crossing at the bottom of Nuns Hill and Chapel Street"
  2. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Casserly:
    “For Sligo County Council to provide for a safe crossing point for students exiting from the Ursuline College to where cars are parked.”
  3. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Casserly:
    “That Sligo County Council carry out footpath repairs at Rathcormac Cemetery, Drumcliffe.
  4. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. Kilgannon:
    “That the meeting be presented with a report on what progress if any has been made on a motion passed some time ago re carrying out a traffic management study in the town”
  5. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. Kilgannon:
    “To request the Chief Executive for an update progress report on the provision of car parking facilities at the train station in Sligo and also on progress on the relocation of the Bus Station on Lord Edward street”
  6. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. Kilgannon:
    “Sligo County Council calls on Minister Richard Bruton and his Department to remove the threat of 10% reduction in the Junior Cert Marks in A.S. T.I staffed schools.”
  7. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree:
    “Noting that Sligo County Council has declared its opposition to the imposition of domestic Water Charges; and noting that the Council has also declared that it has no confidence in Irish Water; this meeting expresses its dismay at the decision of Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and Independent Alliance T.D.’s to reject Dáil motions to abolish the charges.”
  8. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree:“That the Council request An Post to replace as a matter of urgency, the post boxes which were recently removed from St Joseph’s Terrace, Sligo and College Road, Sligo.”
  9. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. Healy:
    “To call on Sligo County Council to write to Irish Water and ask that they address the ongoing concern regarding sewerage in Cartron Bay which affects the house numbers 3 to 7 as raw sewage has flooded onto the back gardens on a number of occasions”.
  10. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. Healy:
    “To call on Sligo County Council to erect guard rails to protect motorists on some of the dangerous bends where there is a dangerous descent on the R287”.
  11. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. Healy:
    “To call on Sligo County Council to address the white guard railing along the Garavogue river in Riverside as there is concern regarding its condition”.
  12. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree:
    “Noting that the original Housing Offices in City Hall and County Hall provided a significant level of privacy for service users; and noting that the current Housing Office in County Hall lacks adequate privacy for service users; this meeting requests the Chief Executive to bring forward proposals which will ensure an adequate level of privacy for members of the public using the Housing Office.”
  13. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor R. O’Grady:
    “That Sligo Municipal District secures funding for the upgrading of footpaths at Rosehill”.
  14. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor R. O’Grady:
    “That Sligo Municipal District reviews the need for a “Stop” sign at the “White House” on Markievicz Road to facilitate traffic turning left”.
