Minutes of September Ordinary Meeting of Sligo County Council held Monday 7th September, 2015 at 11 am in The Council Chamber, County Hall, Riverside, Sligo

ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING AS A MARK OF RESPECT TO THE COUNCILLOR SEAMUS O’BOYLE:

Proposed by Councillor D. Bree
Seconded by Councillor S. MacManus

AND AGREED

“That the Ordinary Meeting of Sligo County Council on 7th September, 2015 be adjourned as a mark of respect to the late Councillor Seamus O’Boyle”.

At the outset, Councillor Bree paid tribute to Councillor O’Boyle and extended his sympathy to his wife Mairead, daughters Katie and Jane, sons Gino and Seamus Jnr., extended family and friends.

Each Member present recounted their own memories and the attributes the had found Councillor O’Boyle to possess while working with him as a Member since his election to Sligo County Council in June 2014.  Some Members had also known Councillor O’Boyle for some years through his involvement in sport and community work.

On his own behalf, and on behalf of the Staff, the Chief Executive offered his condolences to the O’Boyle family.  Mr. Hayes said it had been a pleasure to work with Councillor O’Boyle who was courteous, had a social conscience and was always appreciative of any assistance. 

 

VOTE OF SYMPATHY – PADRAIG NOONE, R.I.P.

It was proposed by Councillor D. Mulvey
Seconded by Councillor M. Clarke

AND AGREED

“That a vote of sympathy be extended to Colette Noone and family on the death of her husband, Padraig”.

Members wished to be associated with this vote of sympathy to Colette, her daughters Elaine and Linda and grandchildren Séan and Ciara, family and friends on the death of Padraig, as a result of a tragic accident.  Padraig was a highly respected Council Employee in the Ballymote Engineering Area. 

It was noted that a number of Sligo County Council Staff had been present when the accident occurred.  Members extended their best wishes to them for a speedy recovery. 

The Chief Executive thanked Members for their comments in relation to the late Padraig Noone and good wishes for his Colleagues.

That a vote of sympathy be extended to Marie Duggan and family on the death of her mother, Mary Durcan.

That a vote of sympathy be extended to Teresa Keane and family on the death of her brother, Martin Kivlehan.

That a vote of sympathy be extended to Máire Carter and family on the death of her husband, Joe.

Seconded by Councillor R. O’Grady

AND AGREED

That a vote of sympathy be extended to Mary Feeney and family on the death of her husband, Danny.
