ELECT A REPRESENTATIVE OF SLIGO COUNTY COUNCIL TO THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF IRELAND, GALWAY:
The Cathaoirleach, Councillor V. Cawley opened the meeting and asked the Meetings Administrator to read out the nominations for the Governing Body of NUIG.
Mr MacNabb read out the 2 nominations from Sligo County Council:
Proposed by Councillor D. Bree
Seconded by Councillor M. Gormley
We the undersigned, being two members of the above named Council, do hereby nominate the under mentioned person as a candidate at the said election; - Councillor Margaret Gormley.
Proposed by Councillor V. Cawley
Seconded by Councillor P. McGrath
We the undersigned, being two members of the above named Council, do hereby nominate the under mentioned person as a candidate at the said election; - Councillor Jim McGarry.
As there were 2 nominees Councillor V. Cawley called for a vote and that the members indicate their preference for either Councillor M. Gormley or Councillor J. McGarry.
For M. Gormley: Barry, Lundy and MacManus
For J. McGarry: Barrett, V. Cawley, Fleming, Keaney, Leonard, Lyons, McGarry, McGrath, McLoughlin, Mullaney and Mulvey.
As the vote was 3 for Gormley and 11 for McGarry the Cathaoirleach declared Councillor Jim McGarry elected as the representative of Sligo County Council on the Governing Authority of the National University of Ireland, Galway for the three year period commencing on 1st February, 2013.
Councillor McGarry thanked the members for his nomination and election to the Governing Body.
