CATHAOIRLEACH:

The Cathaoirleach, Councillor G. Murray presided.
Councillor G. Murray thanked the Members, County Manager and Staff for their support and encouragement during his term as Cathaoirleach. He thanked the Meetings Administrator, Communication Staff and Press for their help and co-operation throughout the year. He also wished Councillor M. Lyons well during his term as Mayor of Sligo Borough Council.
He referred to a number of highlights during the year including the hosting of Michael Flatley and his family in Culfadda and hosting of numerous receptions in County Hall.
The Members complimented Councillor G. Murray on the way he performed his duties during his term of office, along with Councillor V. Cawley during her term as Leas Cathaoirleach.
Mr H. Kearns, County Manager on behalf of the Management and Staff of the Council thanked the outgoing Cathaoirleach for his dedication and commitment during his term of office and wished him well.
ELECTION OF CATHAOIRLEACH:
Proposed by Councillor I. Henry
Seconded by Councillor G. Mullaney
"That Councillor Joe Leonard be elected as Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council".
As there was no other proposal for the position, Councillor G. Murray declared Councillor Leonard elected as Cathaoirleach.
Councillor Leonard took the Chair. He thanked the Members for their support and stated that he was honoured to be elected unopposed to the office of Cathaoirleach after 25 years in office and looked forward to the year ahead. He invited nominations for the position of Leas Cathaoirleach.
ELECTION OF LEAS CATHAOIRLEACH:
Proposed by Councillor T. McLoughlin
Seconded by Councillor V. Cawley
"That Councillor T. Collery be elected as Leas Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council"
As there was no other nomination, Councillor T. Collery was deemed elected as Leas Cathaoirleach.
