  1. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Gormley:
    “That we be provided with a report as to who is responsible for the maintenance and general upkeep of the grounds that the sewerage treatment plant at Corpus Christi Estate is built on”. 
     
  2. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor J. Queenan:
    “Ask the Director of Services to review safety at piers and slip ways in the county”. 
      
  3. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor J. Queenan:
    “Ask the Director of Services to allocate funding towards traffic calming measure on R297 Main Street, Enniscrone”. 
      
  4. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. Maguire:
    “Seeks a report as to the strategic infrastructure and environmental assessment undertaken regarding the development of the Wild Atlantic Way”. 

 

MOTIONS

  1. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Casserly:
    “I wish to propose that Sligo County Council initiate the process of taking in charge Lissadell Park Housing Estate, Oxfield Road, Carney.”
      
  2. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. Kilgannon:
    “Sligo County Council supports the call for a halt to plans to pay welfare money directly to Banks and away from Post Offices nationwide”.
      
  3. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. MacManus:
    “That Sligo County Council recognises the financial pressure being placed on drivers because of the large increases in insurance premiums and further recognises that young people and those living in rural Ireland are particularly affected.

    This Council also expresses its disbelief at the lack of explanation for those increases and the inconsistencies evident in the dramatic increase across the industry.

    Sligo County Council now calls on the Central Bank, the Insurance industry and the Oireachtas to give this issue the priority it deserves and expresses our shock at the complete lack of focus on this issue in the Programme for Government.”
     
  4. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor K. Henry:
    “Calls on Sligo County Council to write to the Minister of Public Expenditure and Reform Mr Paschal Donohoe TD, requesting him to introduce pay equalisation for new entrants into public sector positions such as teachers, nurses, Gardaí, civil servants etc.

    These new entrants should be paid at the same pay scale as their colleagues serving at the same grade if carrying out the same duties”.
      
  5. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor K. Henry:
    “Asks Sligo County Council to assess and attain a quote for the costs of the works needed to extend the footpath and lighting from Ballymote town to the factories on the R296 with a view to having it included in the 2017 scheme of works or to seek funding from relevant Departments for such a project.”
      
  6. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. Kilgannon:
    “Sligo County Council calls on the new Government to ensure that returning migrants do not have to pay sky high motor insurance on their return to this country”.
      
  7. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. MacSharry:
    “That Sligo County Council Engineering staff review the traffic system on the main street of Collooney and assess the feasibility of a pedestrian crossing at a suitable location on the main street of Collooney in the interests of Health & Safety”.
      
  8. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. MacSharry:
    “That Sligo County Council call on the Minister for Justice and the Minister for Finance to immediately address the following,
    1. The re-opening of Garda Stations closed in County Sligo
    2. The urgent need for increased numbers of Garda out Policing in County Sligo
    3. The urgent need for a new updated Garda Station in Sligo fit for purpose”.
        
  9. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M Clarke:
    “To consider the following 4 locations on the N59 for speed control.
    1. Corhownagh Church Ballyisodare move the speed limit in the Ballina direction to give protection to the church.
    2. The speed limit on the Sligo side of Dromore west to be moved towards Sligo 200 metres to give protection to the Churchill junction.
    3. The speed limit on the Sligo side of corballa or castleconnor church to be moved 200 metres in the Sligo direction.
    4. The speed limit at Skreen & Dromard community centre”.
        
  10. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor J. Lundy:
    “I will ask the council to apply for a “low cost accident scheme” grant to carry out road widening and bend removal works on the Tubbercurry to Moylough road, No 431, as a matter of urgency and in the interest of road safety”.
      
  11. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor J. Lundy:
    “That this Council supports the Irish Government in its call on the electorate of the U.K. to vote in favour of continued membership of the E.U. on June 23rd next.”
      
  12. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor J. Lundy:
    “In order to encourage more tourists to visit the South Sligo region, I ask that extra signage be erected to create a “loop of South Sligo” off the Wild Atlantic Way, so that the ever increasing number of tourists on the Wild Atlantic Way will visit the many wonderful attractions in South Sligo and stay longer in the county as a whole.”
      
  13. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. MacManus:
    “I am requesting that Sligo County Council provide a full update on the current situation in relation to the “Taking in Charge” of the following estates:
    • Sandy Cove, Strandhill;
    • The Hawthorns, Carraroe and
    • Kevinsforth Heath, Strandhill Road”.
        
  14. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor J. Queenan:
    “Ask the Director of Services what needs to be done to enable Enniscrone beach to regain its blue flag status”.
      
  15. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. MacManus:
    “Recognising the major amount of positive publicity --particularly in relation to tourism related activity in our county--generated nationally and internationally for Co Sligo by Mr David McGowan in his recent efforts to establish his Glamping park in Enniscrone on the Wild Atlantic Way I now ask for a detailed report on this councils efforts to promote the Wild Atlantic Way.”
      
  16. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Gormley:
    “Over the period of the last Government, 2011-2016, no funding was made available to this Council for Class 3 county roads.  I am now calling on the Minister for Transport, Shane Ross, to make a special allocation available to enable these roads be brought to a standard that they are safe to travel on”.
      
  17. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Mulvey:
    “To call on Sligo County Council to assist locals in the Skreen-Dromard area who are concerned about the urgency for reduced speed limits along the N59 from Burkes Stairs factory to below Dromard Post office.  This stretch of road has many community facilities located along the main road and which are used daily. The speed of traffic along this stretch of road is of major concern to people living in this area who attend the Community Centre, Sports field, Playground, Running track, Health Centre, Church, Cemetery, Post Office and other facilities. The safety of Motorists and Pedestrians going to and returning home from these facilities must be improved and in light of the National Speed Limit Review 2015-2017 which is currently under review”.
      
  18. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Mulvey:
    “To call on Sligo County Council to repair the bad dip in road L1603 at Camross 1 mile out the Templehouse road”.
      
  19. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Mulvey:
    “To ask Sligo County Council to provide any assistance available to the owner of Gilligans World Field of Dreams Tourist attraction Belra, Lavagh, Co. Sligo. This wonderful Tourist attraction in South Sligo may be in its final season this summer.

    I am seeking assistance towards the continued success of this centre and to ensure it will be kept open. Gilligans World Field of Dreams attracts 1000s of visitors each year and helps to support the economy of rural towns such as Tubbercurry, Coolaney, Cloonacool and Ballymote”.
      
  20. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor J. Queenan:
    “To call on the Minister for Agriculture to address the dairy crisis:
    1. To underpin price paid to Farmers  and
    2. To investigate why the Processors and big Supermarkets have not passed on price reduction to the Consumers”. 
        
  21. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. Kilgannon:
    “Sligo County Council calls on Irish Rail and the Department of Transport to seriously consider providing a light rail early morning commuter service from Carrick-on-Shannon to Sligo to arrive at MacDiarmada Station at 8.30am and return at 6.30 p.m.”.
      
  22. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Gormley:
    “To request Sligo County Council to provide two numbers lights at the car park of St Nathy’s Hall, Mullinabreena in the interest of public safety”.
      
  23. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree:
    “Cognizant of the enhanced role of local authorities in terms of promoting enterprise and economic development, this Council express its deep concern at the failure of Enterprise Ireland and the IDA to invite a representative of Sligo County Council to the joint Trade Mission attended by the new Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, which took place in the Park Hotel, Sligo on the 18th of May 2016, and further the Council calls on the Chairman and Board of both Enterprise Ireland and the IDA to take the necessary steps to ensure that a representative of the Council is invited to such significant and import events held in Sligo in the future.”

    To call on Sligo County Council for a update report on the clean up of illegal Dumping at a site at Coney lane in Ballisodare”.

    “To call on Sligo County Council to reinstate the footpath on the Collooney to Coolaney road”.
      
  26. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor T. Healy:
    “To call on Sligo County Council to extend the speed limits zone in Ballgawley on the R290 out past the Castledargan hotel to address the health and safety concerns of the residents and users of this road”.
      
  27. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree:
    “Concerned with the closure of the SUPforall adventure sport business at Trawane Bay, and recognising the importance of Stand Up Paddling and other such adventure sports in attracting visitors to county Sligo, this Council calls on the Chief Executive to explain why legal proceedings were initiated against SUPforall, and further the Council asks the Chief Executive to make available to the elected representatives all documentation relating to the matter.”

    “That this Council welcomes the commitment contained in the Programme for Government, that the new government will consider establishing Town and Borough councils subject to a local plebiscite and funding and further that the Council requests the Taoiseach and the new Minister for the Environment to indicate when it is likely that a firm decision will be made on the matter.”

    “That Sligo County Council would resurface the road at Cloonmull lane, Drumcliffe, Sligo".

    “As Minister Coveney has now declared a housing emergency. This Council demands the monetary and non monetary resources to build 1,500 social and affordable housing.

    “This Council is opposed to Fracking recognizing the extreme danger posed by this practice and will bar all fracking in any future commercial and / or strategic development plans”.
