  1. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Clarke
    “To call on the government to provide for the following motion. That the Seanad Electoral (Panel Members) Act 1947 be amended to provide for the nomination of Seanad Candidates on the same date as the nomination of candidates to the Dáil and that candidates who wish to run for either the Dáil or the Seanad declare those intentions on the same date.”
  2. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. Mac Manus & T. Healy
    “That Sligo Co Council supports the recent industrial action forced on the lecturers of St Angela’s College and calls on the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) to engage with the genuine concerns of the lecturers by entering into discussions with the TUI on all issues of concern surrounding the proposed incorporation of St Angela’s into NUIG.”
  3. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor J. Lundy
    “To ask Sligo County Council to remove the burden of commercial rates from early childhood care and educational facilities in Co. Sligo, as is the case with all other educational premises, both public and private throughout the country.”
  4. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor J. Queenan
    “To ask the County Manger to make representations to Irish Water to ensure that funding is made available for coastal erosion works adjoining Enniscrone sewerage plant and coastal walk.”
  5. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. Kilgannon
    “That Sligo County Council Roads Department would request Sligo Institute of Technology, Civil Engineering 4th year students to carry out a Traffic Survey in Sligo Town as a final year project.”
  6. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Casserly
    “That Sligo County Council introduce a Small Business Grant Scheme for 2016 which provides for a grant of up to 5% of the annual rates bill (excluding arrears) on each commercial rated premises, subject to a maximum annual grant of €250.00 and subject to certain terms and conditions being met. The Grant may be payable by means of a reduction in the annual rate demand for the commercial premises and is applied at the end of the financial year.”
  7. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree
    “That (1) the guidelines/criteria for applicants for arts funding for key venues and organisations and for community arts under the Contribution to the Arts (FO5) be advertised; and that arts organisations and venues be invited to apply for grant aid; and that a closing date for such applications be fixed by the Council; and (2) the guidelines and criteria for applicants for funding for tourism development and promotion (DO4) be advertised; and that applicants be invited to apply for grant aid; and that a closing date for such applications be fixed by the Council.”
  8. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor R. O’Grady
    “That Sligo County Council, once more as a matter of urgency, call on the Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar, to provide the necessary funding for the provision of a cardiac catherisation Lab at Sligo Regional Hospital.”
  9. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor R. O’Grady
    “That this Council call on Minister Richard Bruton, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, as a matter of urgency to set up a Task Force with the sole purpose of attracting more industries to Sligo, thus securing much needed employment for the area.”

  1. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Gormley
    “That this Council calls on the Minister for Agriculture Minister Coveney and this Government to give a commitment that the Regional Veterinary Laboratory at Doonally will be retained as its providing a very important service to the farming community.”
  2. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. MacManus
    “That Sligo Co Council would consider naming the section of road passing through Mitchell/Curley Park to its junction with Ballydoogan Road in honour of the late Roger Eames who carried out significant work with the local community, in particular the local St Marys GAA Club.”
  3. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Casserly
    “To call on Sligo County Council to initiate the process under Section 192 of the 2001 Local Government Act to have the road known as the Western Distributor Road renamed Roger Eames Road.”
  4. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Casserly
    “That Sligo County Council apply for the 'The Living City Initiative' which is at present restricted to the centres of Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Waterford, Galway and Kilkenny with the aim “to bring life back into the heart of these cities by offering tax relief for qualifying expenditure incurred on the refurbishment or conversion of certain buildings where conditions are met.”
  5. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. MacManus
    “In consideration of the meagre allocation of 21 local authority housing starts allocated by the Department of the Environment to Sligo Co Council for the 3 year period to 2017 that this Council would write to the Department seeking an increase in this allocation. In support of an increased allocation I would ask for a full list of all lands owned by Sligo County Council throughout the county which are suitable for local authority houses.”
  6. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Gormley
    “I am calling on the Chief Executive to withdraw the proposal to close the branch libraries, and that this council calls on the TD’s and Senators who are representing the area to intervene with the Minister on the financial position the Council is in.”
  7. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. Kilgannon
    “Sligo County Council calls on the Department of the Environment to explore alternate options for Polling stations instead of forcing schools to close for Elections and Referenda.”

    “That the Council provide an up to date report on the proposal to take charge of the following estates; Steeple View estate in Collooney, The Fairways in Ballygawley and Bushy Park in Ballisodare.”

    “Sligo County Council welcomes the fact that the Jobless rate has dipped below 10pc, however the regional rate shows an increase in unemployment in the first three months of 2015. Minister Bruton has set a target of 40,000 new jobs this year, Sligo County calls on the Minister to spread the recovery equally in all the regions.”

    “To provide an update of the position in relation to the extension of the Western Distributor Road and also that we get an update on the Grange, Strandhill and Tubbercurry Sewerage Treatments Works.”

    “To call on Sligo County Council to prepare a report on dangerous junctions on the N59 called the Coolaney turns, and to erect signs at the locations.”

    “To call on Sligo County Council to prepare a report clarifying the situation for households that are receiving bills from both Irish Water and Veolia for the one and same connection.”

    “Given the disappointment that Enniscrone did not retain its Blue Flag or Green Coast Award for the 2015 bathing season due to failure to comply with water quality requirements, can the Council outline what steps will be taken to have its Blue flag award restored.”

    “To call on Sligo Co Council to write to the Minister of Environment, Community and Local Government, Alan Kelly to request that funding is made available to the Roads Department of Sligo County Council for any cleaning up of illegal dumping as this is a strain on the Council budget.”

    “That this Council expresses its deep dismay at the decision of the Council management to close the Sligo Central Library and the Ballymote and Tubbercurry branch libraries for three week periods during the months of June, July and August; and further that the Council conveys its thanks to the Librarian and his staff on their efforts to maintain the library services in the county; and further this Council calls on the Council management to give a commitment to the elected members, to the general public and to the library staff, that there will be no further closures of the Central Library or any of the branch libraries as and from the 1st of September 2015.”

    “That the Chief Executive provide the Council with a report explaining why the right of way at Hudson’s Lane (linking Conlon Street and Grattan Street) remains closed off to the public and that the file relating to Hudson’s Lane be made available for inspection by members of the Council.”
  17. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree
    “To ask the Chief Executive what was the final date for the receipt of tenders for the provision of legal services to the Council; and to ask if a contract has been awarded to the successful tenderer.”

    “Could Sligo County Council look into the possibility of putting a pedestrian crossing in the front of Markievicz House facing Hughes Bridge where the Bundoran Rd meets Markievicz Road as the footpath ends, it is dangerous trying to cross onto Hughes bridge or to cross over to walk in Markievicz Road.”

    “Is it the policy of Sligo County Council to put storage heaters in the Council’s properties. A good few people have contacted me regarding the ESB bills they are getting for them and they only heat up the room for a while. Would it not be better to have back boilers where there is an open fire?”

    “Could Sligo County Council get the Roads Department to have a look at the ramps in the Forthill area, some of them need to be repaired and some of them are too high and cars are being damaged while going over them.”
