    “Following on from my motion of September 2013 calling on the Minister for Small Business John Perry and Deputy Tony McLoughlin to ensure that the government offices in Tubbercurry are retained as was promised by Minister Perry before the last general election I ask have this council received any response in this regard.”
  3. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor J. Lundy 
    “That Sligo County Council calls on the Government and the Minister for Communications to ensure that the rural Post Office network and its employees are not downgraded in any way, and that all Post Offices will be kept open into the future.”

    “To bring to the notice of the Minister for Communication to clarify the pricing policy of mobile phone companies.”

    “In the interest of openness and transparency Sligo County Council calls on the government in advance of the local and European elections, to indicate the cost of the Water Charges it intends to impose on households from the 1st of October 2014.”

    “Public Road No.511.c in Leitrim South, Chaffpool, Tubbercurry has been closed to traffic for the past 4 weeks due to severe flooding. I will ask this Council what funding can be put in place to get this road opened again to traffic on grounds of health and safety.”

    “I call on Sligo County Council to consider the recent High Court judgment in relation to the Ocean Links Development, Strandhill and consider whether this local authority could avail of the ‘Special Resolution Fund' as set out by the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government to deal with the many issues around these houses and the residents badly effected as set out in the High Court judgment.”
  12. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor J. McGarry
    “That Sligo County Council be provided with a report as to whether or not the First Active Building at the O’Connell Street/ Grattan Street Corner is fire compliant. Also, to ask the Chief Fire Officer when the last fire cert was issued for these premises.”
  13. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. MacManus
    “That Sligo County Council contacts the Department of Health and the HSE requesting clarification regarding the future provision of maternity services at Sligo Regional Hospital.

    We are particularly concerned at recent remarks made in the Dail by Minister James Reilly who stated; ‘Maternity services in all parts of the country will be subject to review and evaluation this year as part of the development by my Department of a new national maternity strategy.’”
  14. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor S. MacManus
    “To ask for a comprehensive report on street enhancement/upgrade and associated works to be undertaken in O’Connell St, Sligo. This report to contain such information as scope and range of such works, update on tendering process, commencement date, estimated duration of works, costs and method of funding etc.”

    “To ask Sligo County Council to improve the width along the road down to Aughris Pier Skreen.”

    “In light of the recent judgment of the Employment Appeals Tribunal where it was ruled that a Sligo man was unfairly dismissed and an award was given, could I put forward the motion asking the Minister for Justice and Equality, Alan Shatter to review and change the current policy so that the person who takes and wins a case against an employer should not be responsible for their own legal costs.”

    “I ask the council to do a costing on providing a footpath from the National School to the church in Rosses Point Village and to seek funding for this project.”

    “To propose that this Council supports a request to the Minister for Social Protection to review benefits and protection of self-employed people resulting from payment of PRSI contributions.”

    “To request the Director of Services to allocate additional staff to the processing of applications for Housing Grants for Older People and People with Disability and Mobility Aids.”

    “Following on from my motion of February calling on the Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar to re-instate to this Council the huge shortfall of €1,712,365 in the Restoration and Maintenance Grant for Local Roads for 2014 as compared to the funding provided in 2013.

    Also, in relation to my motion of January calling on the same Minister to make a special allocation to this Council for Class 3 County Roads which have not received any funding for a number of years. I ask, has the Council received any response to these motions from the Minister.”
  23. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor D. Bree
    “Noting that the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government will be making a determination this month (April) on the application from the Council for a license under the Foreshore Act to undertake dredging works at Sligo Harbour; this Council resolves that in the event of the license being granted by the Department that the County Manager submit the Council’s application for a Dumping at Sea Licence to the Environmental Protection Agency without delay.”

    “That a report containing a list of the sites suggested as an alternative burial ground to Ahamlish be circulated to councillors, the report to include details of why the sites were considered unsuitable.”

    “That Sligo County Council officials prepare a report on the junction of the 1st Sea Road and Strandhill Road (junction to Kevinsfort heath) stating the options of making this junction safer for traffic and pedestrians. There has been a number of serious collisions at this junction over the past 18 months and local residents are very concerned about safety for all road users at this busy location.”

    “That Sligo County Council agrees to take the necessary steps to provide a uniform speed limit of 80 kilometres per hour on the Old Dublin Road (L-3608-0) between Molly Fultons and the outskirts of Ballisodare.”
  27. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor J. Lundy
    “I will ask the Council for a report on the number of septic tanks that have been inspected to date. The number that have failed the test and what grants will be paid to householders to have these septic tanks upgraded.”
  28. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Lyons
    “To ask the Director of Services what progress if any has been made on an earlier motion adopted by this Council that it start the necessary procedure to take in charge a road at Upper Rosses Point, Co. Sligo. This road, which serves nine households, is the first road on the right as you travel from the Primary School towards the R.C. Church.”

    “That Sligo County Council calls on the Minister for the Environment to amend the wording of the Building Control (Amendment) Regulations 2014-S19 so that Self Build/ Direct Labour can continue as before.”

    “That Sligo County Council reform the Commercial Rates, making it more equitable for all business owners.”

    “That this Council calls on the N.R.A. to carrying out an inspection on the N59 from junction L6702 Carrigens to junction L2402 Owenbeg, a 2km stretch and from junction L2604 Stokane to junction L6612 Knockbrack, a 2.5km stretch; and to provide a report to this Council, including design plans, costs, and timescale of when works are to be carried out.”

    “To call on the Director of Services for Community and Enterprise to ensure that the programmes already delivered by Sligo Leader Partnership Company that are proposed to come under the control of the LCDC, when it is formed, be devolved from the LCDC to Sligo Leader Partnership to deliver in the future.”
  33. To consider the following motion as submitted by Councillor M. Clarke
    “That this Council calls on the County Manager to put a stay the takeover of any Group Water Supply Schemes, pending the outcome of investigations being carried out by the Ombudsman and other examinations which members of any schemes have requested authorities in Brussels and the Director of Audits to undertake; and that Irish Water be informed of our decision and to prepare a report on what schemes are been investigated.”

    “I am calling on Sligo County Council in the interest of health and safety to provide flashing lights on Regional Road 294 at Holy Family N.S Tubbercurry warning motorists to reduce speed until such time as a proper parking area is in place.”

    “Due to the condition of the water supply in the Killaraght area whereby consumers are unable to use it for human consumption, they have to buy bottled water, this council calls on Roscommon County Council and Irish Water to furnish this council with a report as to what measures are been taken to upgrade the scheme”
