Fire Brigade Charges
When the fire brigade receives an emergency call-out to an accident / incident, a cost is incurred on the owner of the property whom benefited or would have benefited from the service provided by the fire brigade at that accident / incident. Sligo County Councils Fire Service will then issue an invoice to the beneficiary for an amount determined by the type of incident attended. Below is a breakdown of the different type of incidents and how the charges are calculated.

You can pay by either of the following methods;

- In person to Finance Section, Sligo County Council Offices, Riverside Sligo

Can I get a reduction in the Fire Brigade Charge?
Sligo County Council has a waiver scheme in place. Those eligible for a reduction in charges should complete the Application for Waiver-Reduction of Fire Brigade Charges (PDF) - 470 kbs and forward the completed application form to Finance Section, Sligo County Council, Riverside, Sligo. The council will then respond by advising on the final cost taken into account if the beneficiary is entitled to a reduction or waiver in part or full.

Note:
- Where a Waiver is sought for a Chimney Fire, only one Waiver application will be considered by Sligo Fire Service for each individual. Further applications for a chimney fire submitted by the same applicant for the same address will not be considered.
- An application for a reduction of a fire service charge will only be entertained for the amount of the charge or for part of charge that is not recoverable from an insurance company or from any other source.
