This temporary road closure will be from 9.30am on Friday, 31st May, 2024 to 2pm on Monday, 3rd June, 2024.

Temporary Closing of Roads

Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993

Part 8 Roads Regulations 1994 (SI No. 119 of 1994)

Notice is hereby given of the decision of Sligo County Council to close to public traffic, the R286 
(Hazelwood Road) from its junction with the R278 at Bellanode to its junction with
L-7430/L-7429 (Hazelwood Avenue/Shaws Avenue) from 9.30am on Friday, 31st May, 2024 to 
2pm on Monday, 3rd June, 2024.


This temporary road closure impacts east bound traffic only. One way traffic will be allowed 
westbound from Dromahair towards Sligo town along the R286.


This temporary road closure is necessary to facilitate safe access for vehicular and pedestrian 
traffic attending the Wild Roots Festival in Hazelwood.


Diversions will be in place via the R278 and R286 for eastbound traffic (travelling from Sligo to 
Dromahair). Traffic traveling toward Dromahair on the R286 will be diverted from the R286 onto 
the R278, traffic can continue on the R278 toward Dromahair or turn right on Shaws Avenue to 
meet the R286 again at the top of Hazelwood Avenue.
