NOTICE UNDER THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT (PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENTREGULATIONS 2001, PART 8 (ARTICLE 81) (AS AMENDED)
Notice is hereby given that Sligo County Council proposes to construct a new shared pedestrian and cyclist facility from Coolaney to Rockfield, in the Townlands of Carrownacleigha and Shancough, Sligo.
The proposed scheme is located on Local Road No. L-6804-0, starting at the entrance to Fort Haven Estate to Rockfield National School. The objective of the scheme is to create a pedestrian and cyclist link connecting Coolaney and Rockfield. The works involved are as follows:
- Remove existing roadside boundary and create new boundaries to facilitate the construction of a 3m wide active travel facility.
- New road markings and traffic signage.
- Remove the existing utility poles and overhead wires.
- Provide and construct underground utility network.
- Upgrade and extend existing surface water drainage network.
- Provide new public lighting along the length of the scheme.
- Provision of pedestrian crossing facilities along the route.
- Associated site development works and services.
In accordance with Article 81 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001-2022, Sligo County Council has concluded from a preliminary examination under Article 120(1)(b)(i), that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and that an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is not required. Any person may, within 4 weeks from the date of this notice, apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the proposed development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment.
Plans and full particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection, or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, online at consult.sligococo.ie or may be viewed during office hours at County Hall, Riverside, Sligo from Thursday 31st October 2024 to Thursday 28th November 2024 (both dates inclusive).
Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, may be made online by registering on the consult.sligococo.ie portal or in writing and submitted to the undersigned not later than 4pm on Thursday 12th December 2024.
