Re: Planning Reference PL18/210 – Proposed Upgrading of Lough Talt Water Treatment Plant (IROPI)
Decision on Irish Water Application to Upgrade the Existing Lough Talt Water Treatment Plant
Update on Irish Water Planning application (PL18/210)
On 12th March 2019, Sligo County Council issued to the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government a ‘Statement of Case’ for imperative reasons of overriding public interest (IROPI) in respect of a planning application lodged by Irish Water for the proposed upgrading of the Lough Talt water treatment plant.
In response, the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government has notified Sligo County Council on 30th April 2019 that the compensatory measures proposed are sufficient to ensure that the overall coherence of the Natura 2000 network is protected.
On the basis of the contents of this notice and in accordance with the provisions of Section 177AB of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended), Sligo County Council has on 2nd May, 2019 made a decision to grant planning permission on the subject planning application.
