Draft Plan

Sligo County Council has prepared a Draft Development Plan for County Sligo (CDP) for the period 2024 to 2030, in accordance with the provisions of the Planning & Development Act 2000 (as amended). The Draft Plan and associated documents were on public display from 13 October to 22 December 2023. A total of 211 valid submissions and observations were received during the consultation period.

Proposed Amendments

Notice is hereby given that, having considered the Draft Development Plan and the Second Chief Executive’s Report on submissions and observations relating to the Draft Plan and associated documents, it appeared to the elected members of Sligo County Council that the Draft Plan should be amended. The proposed amendments would, if made, be a material alteration of the Draft Plan.

Environmental assessments

Pursuant to Section 12 (7) (aa) of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended), the Planning Authority has determined that strategic environmental assessment and appropriate assessment are required in respect of the proposed material alterations of the Draft Development Plan. These assessments have been undertaken and their findings are contained in the respective Addenda to the existing environmental reports, which are published alongside the Proposed Amendments document.

Consultation documents

The Proposed Amendments to the Draft Plan and associated documents will be available to view and download from the Sligo County Council’s Consultation Portal at consult.sligococo.ie starting on Friday, 7 June 2024.

Printed copies can be inspected at the following locations:

• Planning Department City Hall, Quay Street - 10 am to 4pm 
• Sligo County Library - during normal opening hours
• Tubbercurry Library, Teach Laighne - during normal opening hours
• Ballymote and Enniscrone Branch Libraries Enniscrone, Tubbercurry & Ballymote Area Offices  - during normal opening hours

Printed copies of the Proposed Amendments and associated documents may be ordered for purchase from Sligo County Council's Planning Office, City Hall, Quay Street Sligo (Tel. 071 911 4440).

Submissions

Written submissions or observations regarding the Proposed Amendments only may be made in writing from 7 June 2024 until 4 pm on 5 July 2024.

It is important to specify the code(s) – in “PA-XY” or “PAZ-QW” format or as the case may be – of the Proposed Amendment(s) to which a submission refers. This will facilitate the identification of the issue(s) and the preparation of an appropriate response in the final Chief Executive’s Report.

Submissions should be made through the Council’s Consultation Portal at consult.sligococo.ie.

Although NOT recommended, submissions headed “Proposed Amendments to the Draft Sligo CDP 2024-2030” may be e-mailed to cdp@sligococo.ie or posted to:

All submissions will be redacted, if necessary (to comply with GDPR), and made available for public viewing on the Council’s Consultation Portal.

Submissions will be accepted until 4 pm on Friday, 5 July 2024. Late submissions will not be taken into consideration.
