The idea behind these events is to tell people about the Older Persons Council, what is involved in establishing such a structure, the role for local groups and individuals in this process, the type of projects it could initiate or become involved in and how it could look once established.

Being involved in the Sligo Older Persons Council will be a great opportunity for groups and individuals to become involved in planning not only for their own future but for future generations in Sligo. Individual people and groups who are interested in becoming involved can express their interest on the day.

Each event will begin with an activity, followed by refreshments and information on the Sligo Older Persons Council. Staff from the Community & Economic Development Section of Sligo County Council will be present on the day to provide information and answer questions.

Tubbercurry Family Resource Centre, Monday 8^th November 2021, 10 a.m. to 11.45 a.m.

Activity: Martin Connor, ABC of Gardening, will talk about all things gardening and the importance of creating your own space in the garden.

Ballymote Family Resource Centre, Friday 12^th November 2021, 10 a.m. to 11.45 a.m.

Activity: Eileen Kirrane, Eileen's Kitchen Table, will host a baking demonstration and there will be an opportunity to sample the goodies afterwards.

Activity: Chair Yoga with Donna O'Regan Farineau. An opportunity to try out something different. Please bring your own yoga mat or a towel for stretching.

Groups and individuals who express an interest in becoming involved in the Older Persons Council will be invited to the launch of the Older Persons Council on 15^th December 2021, in the Glasshouse Hotel, Sligo.
