The building contract for the construction of 10 new dwellings in Connolly Park, Tubbercurry was signed at the Council Offices, Teach Laighne on September 9th. The contractor, Brendan Sammon Aughnasheelin Ltd. will commence construction in the coming weeks, with a completion date mid 2021. This is phase 1 of the development and will see the demolition of 4 vacant units and the construction of 6no. 3 bedroom houses, 3no. 2 bedroom and 1no. 3 bedroom townhouses.
The project has been lead and designed by Sligo County Council Architect’s Department in conjunction with Walsh Associates Quantity Surveyors, Malachy Walsh & Partners, Civil & Structural Engineers and Delap and Waller, Service Engineers. This is phase 1 of development in Connolly Park, with phase 2 expected to deliver a further 15 units in 2022.

The design has been completed to nZEB standard (near Zero Energy Building), and features enhanced thermal performance, air source heat pump systems demand controlled natural ventilation and Photo Voltaic (PV) solar panels to ensure that the carbon footprint is kept to a minimum. Each unit is set to achieve a minimum A2 energy rating.
The Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council Councillor Dara Mulvey said
'The delivery of this new scheme is excellent news for the local community, and is the latest in a series of important housing developments by Sligo County Council. The design also includes an impressive landscaped public open space which will become the new focal point for the residents of Connolly Park. I would like to commend the project team and I look forward to the completion of the scheme in 2021.’
