Councillor Mulvey stated that it was a great honour to pay public tribute to one of the most valued institutions in South Sligo who have played a hugely important role and for 75 years have entertained and enthralled audiences of all ages. The committee of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly yearly to host this festival deserve great credit for their efforts, and especially this year of 2017 as Sligo holds the title of the European capital of Volunteering.
Councillor Mulvey said that Sligo County Council will always aim to support local community-based events.
