Cathaoirleach Councillor Martin Baker and Mayor Councillor Rosaleen O’ Grady attended a photocall in Summerhill College this week to promote ‘World Mental Health Day’.
World Mental Health Day
The event was coordinated by Sligo Central Library and students from the Ursuline College joined Summerhill students at the forum.
The purpose of the photo call was to launch the ‘Reading Well – Feeling Well’ Recommended Reading on Mental Health issues for teenagers and young adults. The publication, which was compiled by Sligo Library Service, includes a wide range of self-help and information based titles written by hugely influential authors. Also included in the publication is a list of organisations that promote positive mental health and provide support services to teenagers in particular.
Library staff will be delivering copies of the publication to all second level schools in the county, and are also available in all branch libraries throughout the county.
Cathaoirleach Councillor Martin Baker commended the Library staff for hosting the initiative
‘It is very important to provide supports in this area to young people, and this event will highlight the publications available to them through the Library network.’
