Minutes of July Meeting of the Community Safety Plan Subgroup held at 2.15 pm on Tuesday 7th July, 2026 in The Members Room, County Hall, Riverside, Sligo

Ms Kira Smith, Chairperson, welcomed everyone to the meeting and noted apologies.

 

1. Terms of Reference

Draft Terms of Reference approved subject to Chairperson of the LCSP fixing the quorum and subject to overall approval of LCSP.  Ms. Kira Smith appointed as Chairperson.

2. Declarations of Interest

No Declaration of Interest received.

 

4. Local Community Safety Plan

  • Public Survey: Draft survey approved subject to insertion of initial question to confirm if person is resident in County Sligo or visiting, to amend reference to Sligo City as Sligo Town and an option added for neurodivergent conditions. Also, incentive approved for €100 Love Sligo gift voucher with option to include email address to take part in the draw.
  • Consultant for development of Plan: Agreed to appoint consultant this year to utilize approx. €25,000 of the NOCS funding which must be spent this year. Terms of draft tender quotation to be sent to subgroup members in advance.
  • Public Consultation Plan: Draft plan noted. Intended launch Friday 10th  To be open for a 10 week period.  Public consultations to be held in Sligo, Ballymote, Tubbercurry and Enniscrone libraries and at venue to be confirmed in north Sligo.
  • Communications Plan: To be drafted.
  • It was suggested that the LCSP host an information stand at some events/festivals in Co. Sligo. This to be considered and arranged.

 

5. Consideration of meetings and dates for 2026

  • Schedule of meetings to be online only noted as follows all Thursdays at 2:15 pm:

13th August, 10th September, 8th October and 5th November.

 

8. Correspondence

  • Caroline Forde and Ms. Lorna Curry will be proposed as members of this Subgroup at LCSP meeting 7th September.
  • Discussion on outreach to groups/communities not currently represented on LCSP.
  • Sligo LCSP will have a stand at CYPSC, Sligo Social Services event in Southern Hotel, Sligo, 29th
