Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme 2024-25

The Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme provides funding for the development of new and existing outdoor recreational infrastructure in rural areas. The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has launched the 2024/25 Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme.

The 2024/25 Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) will see the development of natural amenities such as Ireland's mountains, lakes, beaches, bogs, walkways, greenways and blueways.

Sligo County Council is now seeking expressions of interest under Measures 1, 2, 3 and the Project Development Measure. Expression of Interest forms to be submitted to cdt@sligococo.ie and titled “ORIS 2024/2025 “ 

The Closing Date for submission of EOI’s is Friday 10th January 2025.

Project Development Measure 

Grant amount up to €50,000 for development costs for strategic large scale projects.

Grant amount up to €40,000 for small scale  repair/development/promotion and marketing.

As set out in the scheme details, projects with evidence of strong community engagement will be prioritised. 

As in previous years, the scheme does not include sporting activities which take place in the countryside on confined courses or pitches specifically designed and constructed for those events e.g., golf, football, show jumping or motorised activities such as quads/scramblers.
