Community Involvement Schemes
The Department of Transport has recently notified Sligo County Council that further funding will be made available in 2020/21 for road improvement works under the “Community Involvement Schemes (CIS)”.
Local communities or individuals can identify qualifying improvement works on their local public roads. Subject to a community financial contribution of 15% of the cost of the works, the balance of the cost of the works may be funded by a specific grant from the Department of Transport. Sligo County Council will administer the scheme and carry out the road works.
Sligo County Council now invites applications or expressions of interest from interested individuals and communities who may wish to avail of this Scheme in 2020/21. If you made an application in 2018/2019, you are not required to reapply.
The Scheme is particularly useful in obtaining funding for repairing and improving local public cul-de-sac roads and roads at community facilities especially where several landowners or householders are involved. These roads may have only received minimal maintenance works in the past due to limited availability of funding.
Full particulars of the Scheme and an application form may be obtained from Sligo County Council Roads Department, High Market House, Old Market Street, Sligo – Telephone 071 9111492 - email firstname.lastname@example.org.
You may also contact your local area office and Area Engineer for more details regarding the Scheme.
Completed Application Forms must be submitted to Sligo County Council Roads Department at the above address by 4.00 pm on Friday, 26th July, 2019.
