Carrowroe to Cuilbeg

Carrowroe to Cuilbeg

Proposed Scheme

The proposed scheme starts at the intersection of the R284 (Ballygawley Road) and the R287 (Dromahaire Road).  The scheme continues for approximately 1Km along the R287 (towards Dromahaire) ending at the entrance to St. John’s GAA Club.

The objective of the scheme is to create a dedicated, shared pedestrian and cyclist link connecting Carrowroe to Cuilbeg.  The works involved are as follows:

  • Carry out junction realignment works at the intersection of the R287 and R284.
  • Remove approximately 100m of existing road boundary along the R287.
  • Upgrade existing public lighting along the route.
  • Provide and construct underground utility network.
  • Extend and improve the existing drainage network.
  • Provide and construct a 3-metre-wide shared concrete cycleway and footpath – subject to detailed design.
  • Provide and construct a new (100m approx.) roadside boundary in the form of fencing and new hedgerows.
  • Provision of pedestrian crossing facilities.
