Traffic Report W/C 14th January, 2019

EXPECTED TRAFFIC DELAYS

  • It is planned to transport components for a wind farm from Killybegs , Co. Donegal to Oweninny, Bellacorick,Ballina by road during the period 6/1/2019-31/5/2019 approximately.

    The loads will be travelling from Sunday night (leaving Killybegs ) to Friday mornings.

    The loads are wide-up to 4.5 metres wide and long (up to 66 metres or 216 feet) approximately.

    Traffic delays are expected while the loads are travelling along the roads.

    The route through Sligo is N15 - Cliffoney to Sligo, N4 - Sligo to Ballysadare and N59 - Ballisodare to Ballina.

    All loads will be under Garda escort.

    It is proposed to leave Killybegs at 10pm (first load leaving Sunday 6/1/2019) and the loads are expected in Cliffoney at midnight approximately and be in Ballysadare at 1am approximately and then travel onto Ballina via N59.

    Loads are expected to be in Bellacorick (on site) by 5am-5.30am approximately.

 

SLIGO AREA

  • Construction works will commence for the Western Distributor Road Phase 2 from the 7th January 2019 in the townlands of Ballydoogan, Oakfield, Maugheraboy and Caltragh.  Traffic management will be in place on the Oakfield Road L–3601, the Ballydoogan Road L–9406 The L-601 in Caltragh and Rusheen Lane in Caltragh for access and egress to the site, minor delays are expected.
  • A scaffolding licence has been granted for Adelaide Street at Salon 2.  The scaffolding will be on the footpath with pedestrians catered for and no traffic delays are expected.
  • Footpath replacement works will take place on the N15 in the vicinity of the Mount Shannon Road junction. Traffic management will be in place.  Minor delays are expected.

  

NORTH SLIGO AREA

  • Roadworks for drainage will continue on Local Road L-3305-0 Coolbeg, Carney. Traffic management will be in operation.  

 

Calry Watermain Replacement Contract:

  • Irish Water are replacing an existing 1800m of problematic water mains with high density polyethylene (plastic) pipes, associated fitting and service pipes at Loughanelteen and Carrickoneilleen, Calry County Sligo. The section of works will take place on the R278 at Loughanelteen and Carrickoneilleen. The works will also involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers’ property boundaries and connecting it to the customers’ water supply. Where the existing service connections on the public side are lead these will be replaced as part of this improvement work. The works will be carried out on behalf of Irish Water and are expected to be completed in January 2019.

  

Enniscrone Area

  • Drainage works will be carried out on the R297 at Carraun. Traffic lights will be in operation minor delays expected.
  • Essential road repair works will be carried out on the N59 at Owenbeg/Camcuill. Traffic management will be in operation. Minor delays expected.
  • Pothole repair and Surface Drainage works will continue in the Enniscrone area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

  

  

BALLYMOTE AREA

  • Pothole repair works will continue in the Ballymote area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

Temple House Road Pipeline Replacement Works:

  • Irish Water are replacing an existing 1800m of problematic water mains with high density polyethylene (plastic) pipes, associated fitting and service pipes at Rathdoony More and Camross, Ballymote County Sligo. The section of works will take place on L-1603 L-1603 in the Townland of Camross, Ballymote from the junction with Mountain Drive, moving West approximately 3.5 km from Ballymote. The works will also involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers’ property boundaries and connecting it to the customers’ water supply. The works will be carried out on behalf of Irish Water by Farrans Construction Ltd. The L-1630 shall be closed to traffic for the duration of the works.  The period of closure is between 08.00 on Wednesday, 9th January 2019 and 17.00 on Friday, 22nd February 2019, both dates inclusive.  Local access will be provided to residents only.

TUBBERCURRY AREA

  • Advance site Investigation Works (associated with proposed pipe laying for Irish Water) are programmed to be undertaken during the week along the R294 between the outskirts of Tubbercurry and St Attracta’s Community School on the Ballina Road. Temporary traffic lights will be in operation and motorists can expect minor delays. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.  The works are expected to be completed by the end of the week.  

N17 Cashel South

  • Road resurfacing works will be undertaken at Cashel South / Carrowwilkin Td. (Approximately 5km south of Tubbercurry).  The works is being undertaken by Lagan Asphalt Ltd. on behalf of Sligo County Council.  Temporary Traffic Management will be in place.  Delays are expected and motorists are advised to use alternative routes where possible. Sligo County Council regret the inconvenience caused while these essential works are being carried out.

  

Strandhill Area   

  • Pothole repair and Surface Drainage works will continue in the Sligo Strandhill area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

N59 Ballisodare To Belladrehid

  • Pavement works on the N59 between Ballisodare Village and Belladrehid are ongoing.  Traffic management will be in place between Silver Falls and the Railway Bridge where the road will be reduced to one lane. Temporary traffic lights will be in place overnight.  Footway works is ongoing and Pedestrian management will be in place.  Delays are expected and motorists are advised to use alternative routes where possible.  Sligo County Council regret the inconvenience caused while these essential works are being carried out.
