Cathaoirleach Welcomes Major Funding Under Town and Village Renewal Scheme

The Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council Councillor Martin Baker has welcomed the announcement by Michael Ring, TD, Minister Rural and Community Development, of funding for 2018 Town and Village Renewal Scheme.

According to the Cathaoirleach

‘This investment in our towns and villages is a significant boost for County Sligo, and is deserved reward for the volunteers in these communities who have been carrying excellent work over the years.  Eleven schemes throughout County Sligo will receive funding totalling over €1.1 million, and I would like to commend Minister Ring for his ongoing commitment to rural Ireland.

I must also pay tribute to the staff of Sligo County Council’s Local Enterprise Office for their expertise and professionalism in coordinating the funding submissions, and we now look forward to working with the various communities to see the projects progressed over the coming months.’

Director of Services Dorothy Clarke said

‘This major funding reflects the outstanding work being delivered all over our county, and shows what can be achieved when the Local Authority works in partnership with the communities we serve;  Each of the projects approved for funding will have positive impacts on their respective communities, and will stimulate economic activity with neighbouring townlands.’
