Town and Village Renewal Scheme 2019
The Town and Village Renewal Scheme 2019 has recently been launched by the Minister for Rural and Community Development Minister Michael Ring, TD.
The Town and Village Renewal Scheme is a key part of the Action Plan for Rural Development and is one of a range of measures designed to support the revitalisation of rural Ireland under the Government’s Project Ireland 2040 Rural Regeneration Programme.
The scheme is specifically targeted at rural towns and villages with populations of less than 10,000. Applications from towns can range from €20,000 to a maximum of €100,000. Funding of up to €200,000 will also be considered for a limited number of projects which can deliver exceptionally strong economic benefit to a town and its outlying areas.
For 2019, the main focus of the Town and Village Renewal Scheme will be on public-realm type activities and the enhancement of town centre amenities. Measures to encourage town centre living will also be welcome. The selection of projects will be by means of a competitive process. However, an objective of the scheme will be to ensure that a reasonable level of funding becomes available to areas that most require it.
Sligo County Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from town/village groups and business interests who may have a suitable project for consideration under the scheme. All expressions of interest will be assessed based on the priorities as contained in the Scheme Outline, after the closing date and a maximum of 12 proposals will be selected for development into detailed applications which will be submitted to the Department of Rural and Community Development.
All interested town/village groups should complete the Expression of Interest form and return to the Community & Economic Development Section, Sligo County Council, City Hall, Quay Street, Sligo, F91 PP44 or emailed to email@example.com no later than 4.00pm on Friday 31st May 2019.
